I'm a huge Mickey Rooney fan and it is always interesting to hear first person accounts of him in life.

Such a beautiful memory. I also knew Annie and she was absolutely a very special kind lovely lady. Thankyou for sharing your memories .I saw you many times at the Savoy theatre until it abruptly closed .. what a shock that was for everyone but Mickey wanted to go home and that was that. The stories she would tell me about him too!

Being an ex-hoofer myself from the UK, I met Ann Miller when I was living in LA. back in the mid-80s. While I and a friend were watching a matinee movie on the la Cienega strip in Hollywood, a new film starring Shirley McClain. You could, in the darkness of the movie house, hear these three women, about five rows back, dishing the dirt on Shirley McClain wondering why she, Shirley, said yes to doing this (bad) movie. One of those women five rows behind sounded just like Ann Miller. Ann definitely had her own recognizable tone of voice. I could not help myself and had to sneak back to see if it was in fact the Ann Miller. To my pleasant surprise, it was she, along with two other well-known Hollywood stars of the day, Rosemary Clooney, and the other friend whom I recognized but could not recall her name. I quietly introduced myself as a dancer from the UK and Ann Miller responded in a very friendly manner. She asked my name and then introduced me to her two friends who both said hi. :)

I loved Sugar Babies! You were fantastic. It was my very first musical & I saw it live at Her Majesty’s in Sydney in ‘87 I think with my mum. There was Garry McDonald, Marty Coffey, Joan Brockenshire & one of my dance teachers Miss Margaret was in the chorus & she did the fan dance in the show. I remember meeting Miss Margaret at the stage door & going backstage & meeting everyone & getting autographs! Eddie Bracken was lovely, Joan not so much! But then she’d just gotten off stage & was meeting this little 12 year old. I think I may have met you as well possibly? Anyway I loved it & you were fab!

Oh man I enjoyed that! I saw the show at the Savoy three times and loved it every time (Mickey must have been behaving). A friend of mine was a dresser on the show and asked the girls to make sure we got a garter when they flicked them into the audience, we were centre front and 10 garters rained down on us. I still keep one. Happy, happy memories, thank you. X.

Wow! What great stories from Sugar Babies! Ann doing "Shaking The Blues Away" in your apartment!! Would have loved to have seen you in the show. Saw it on tour with Rooney and Miller. Just before it hit Houston, where I live (Ann was a Texan, raised and began dancing in Houston) she had to drop out due to a foot injury -- Carol Lawrence filled in. It was great, but I wanted to see Miller. A few weeks later she was back in the tour, so I flew to Dallas to see the show. Most fun I've ever had in a theater -- apart from being on stage. Met Rooney and Miller and they were both gracious enough to sign a couple of original MGM posters. Rooney's first words to me were, "You're a tall son of a bitch". Loved the clip from the TV show of "Warm and Willing"...that was the "must be a good sport" part of your job description for your role. Being a magician, I know what it's like to work with pigeons. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful memories!

Is true Ann Miller would introduce herself “Hi! I’m Annie Miller the Star!? By the way I loved these Golden age of Hollywood stars myself. I remember when we saw Donald O’Connor when we where in London I couldn’t believe it x
