The night I saw SUGAR BABIES on Broadway was one of the best theatre going nights of my life. I had never seen Ann Miller on stage before and I had no idea what I was in for. What a magnificent talent. And then, there's the wonderful Mickey Rooney who rocked the house with laughter.

I had the pleasure of seeing them perform live on both the first and the last performance of their 1988 run in London. The energy and professionalism of this pair of old troupers... superb!

My Mom and I love old classic movies and always enjoyed Ann Miller and Mickey Rooney in those great MGM musicals....as soon as I found out this show was coming to town I rushed out and bought tickets. Mom and I made a night of it -- had a wonderful dinner then went to the theatre and saw these outstanding performers just like we did so many times on TV. It was like stepping back in time. I remember the "I can't give you anything but love" number in particular. It was a great show and a memorable evening I'll never forget

No one could make you feel like you ought to get yourself "On the Sunny side of the Street" like these two. It always seemed that no one had more fun performing than Mickey Rooney, for the whole 80-odd (!) years of his film career. You look at his films with Garland and you look at the Night at the Museum series and you look at this performance and you know that Mickey wouldn't rather be doing anything else. Was there ever a dancer who exploded with energy like Miller? Eleanor Powell, The Nicholas Brothers come to mind. She's right up there with them.

I saw Mickey and Ann do this in the Broadway "Sugar Babies", they were both wonderful, especially Ann. I also saw Rip Taylor and Carol Lawrence in "Sugar Babies" at Harrah's, Reno, and I must say, Rip was much funnier and more appropriate for the vaudeville-burlesque nature of the show than Rooney. But Carol Lawrence was totally forgettable, no threat to the iconic Miller.. And thanks for posting this wonderful clip!
