This probably just comes down to personal preference because everybody has their own likes and dislikes as well as the gliders too. For me, I’ve found what works best for my gliders at any age is a combination of both fabric and plastic toys so essentially half and half. Fleece is not so much about a mental stimulation for them but more of a sensory addition to their cage. In the wild, they would have all kinds of different tastes, smells, sounds and textures. By adding soft items to their home as well, it will enhance their experience even more. Fleece also provides areas to perch for grooming and eating in addition to feeding that “nesting” instinct. Your right, unless you have a HUGE cage which most of us don’t, there isn’t a good enough reason to leave big areas open. However, I don’t find it is best to clutter them up either. I’m somewhere in the middle and here’s why. One, I’ve found that young gliders tend to deal with stress better than older ones. It seems as they get older, it is harder for them to deal with situations that normally wouldn’t have bothered them years ago. Sounds familiar to us, right.. Now, this can depend on the glider and their personality too so again, every glider is different. I “fill” their cage but not to a point where I think it looks cluttered. Two, because as they get into scuffles and fights, if the cage is cluttered, it’s harder for them to get to a safe zone. Younger gliders typically are at their fastest and don’t really have an issue. As they get older though, their energy and stamina slows down a bit and that can be of concern. Some little side notes here - wait to you get a glider that LOVES to stay on the bottom of their cage. They will also run around the floor instead of high up. Lol. Again, every glider is different. :-) I’m one of those people you mentioned that has matching cage sets. Lol. I’ve had a lot of time to expand my collection though. I have 12 complete sets, 1 for each month of the year plus an extra for situations where I have to separate one. All have on average 10 pieces of matching fabric, 8 hanging toys and 4 floor toys. I love my gliders very much.. Lmao..

I have this exact cage, but I'm wondering how you set up the bottom of your cage because it obviously has something set as the floor. What exactly is it? Also can you set up the links for creators and shops you've gotten the toys from?

There are always cool finds at dollar tree! In regards to specific sugar glider stuff, you’ll likely have to buy from an approved vendor, most sell through Facebook. Sadly there aren’t many things safe on the market

You can buy them from approved vendors on Facebook. That’s the only place I know of to get specialty toys Random little toys you can find at dollar tree, Walmart and thrift stores!

All mine are fixed boys They can’t have hay, but yes to veggies! Not leafy greens so much like rabbits. I have a sugar glider care video and a quick glider diet video:) I use the BML diet so it’s like wheat germ, chicken baby food, baby rice cereal and a few others you make for the staple, and you feed the approved fruits and veggies alongside

Yes I discuss it briefly in this video and I have another video all about glider safe wheels. Sugar gliders shouldn’t have solid base wheels as they don’t run, they jump on the wheels and they need the plastic mesh for traction

One thing I don’t suggest is having a dog bed in that room. Sugar gliders can get terrified of dogs and cats, If you have any animals you should at least try to keep them away from your sugar gliders. (This is not directed at you, Just new owners watching your video’s)

Thanks! The dog bed is actually for the rabbits or for me lol:) I don’t have cats but if I did they’d never be allowed in since cat salvia is highly toxic. My dog does okay with them. He gets really excited and barks but it doesn’t scare my gliders. Of course he is never in there unsupervised and he is jsut a small chihuahua, which can still dona lot of damage to a little creature, but since the cage is high up he can’t really see them:)
