Pull mother shoots you get more canes per stand yielding more cane per hector.

What I do is not pull the mother shoots but after they get 10 leaf I cut the top off them and that sends out lots of tillers. The way you describe works about the same except you lose the mother shoot.

Not sure the local Vietnam number but it is called "La Carlota" in the Philippines. A very common soft variety.

Honestly I did not stay that long to annalize it and plan to return. But from a quick glance it was 1.5 hectares and the rows were about 1 meter.apart. I will make a follow up video next month when I return. It will be warmer!
