I spoke to a First Nations woman about her experience in residential schools. She said it was fine but i feel deep sadness from her. She's 80 and all alone away from family. Maybe she didn't trust me with her story because my ancestors were colonizers. She is a healer and has impeccable intuition. She texted me today and said who is suffering? She said " I didn't sleep well last night someone is not sleeping" I was once shocked because my husband got bad news from the doctor yesterday. She said someone has been tapping on her shoulder. I am so blessed to have met her. She says I'm the same I'm not sure about that but I'm sure about her. I love her. My heartbreaks to think of her being taken away from her family 75 years ago.

I have long felt that Native Americans have been treated more horridly than we knew. I am grateful to know more truth about the people that we have pushed aside (to put it kindly) for so very long.

@GOODJMR3 ай бұрын
Colonialism didn't create the "problem." To say that one must believe that the solution was humans should never travel anywhere and we all should've stayed where we were. That's ridiculous, of course. If the truth really matters, we can not generalize human beings and their behaviors.

Or any other mythology at that point, except maybe buddism and maybe few more that are non-violent religions/mythologies.
@anomalousviewer31643 ай бұрын
Maybe it's because those people are mature and know that catholic is Christian and it's a religion not a cult. They not bigoted nor ignorant to ask a reasonable question, did the actions of the guilty conform with the beliefs of the group in question, the obvious answer is no. Judging an entire group of people by the actions of a few, who broke the laws of that group is just ludicrous and reveals ones prejudice.
@shhh31853 ай бұрын
Hey many of us indigenous people are still catholic. The people who abused others should be in jail. Don’t dismiss the real teachings of Christ because is evil scandalous acts. And don’t demean the indigenous who believe in real reconciliation. my great grandfather is a residential school survivor and we know what happen to him but our family remained Catholic. Don’t use us as an excuse for your religious ignorance and bigotry.
