I am 💯 Native American from the Acoma tribe in New Mexico we have 19 pueblo tribes from our state. I was sad to also see the Washington Redskins are going to change their name. How many years did they have that name and now ppl want it changed. I just don’t get it the country we live in now have bigger things to worry about than team names.

This dude did an excellent job describing the song. I knew exactly the song he described, just didn’t know the name. One of the all time frustrations is not being able to ID a melody you once enjoyed. Happened to me with the Apache Intro by Sugar Hill Gang. Seemed like they played the whole song without the versus back in the day, just instrumentals & it took me 20 years to find it with verses. The relief was indescribable. Watching this video prompted me to find the instrumental. 8 minutes and 16 seconds of pure bliss.

Ya'll probably unaware of the origins of this song: the pop band "The Shadows" released it in 1960. They were a pop band in the UK, with incredibly good instrumentals. It was then used as a cover version, as shown in this video. The Sugar Hill gang are probably having to pay royalties to a group of white dudes from Newcastle upon Tyne in Northern England & Southgate in North London. The original creators of this song are all lovely old chaps from England surrounded by their grand children, much loved by anyone who knows them.

Only if you consider all people of similar complexion to be one and the same, which would be kind of racist. Some Native American populations were dark-skinned, but that doesn't mean they are genetically related to sub-Saharan populations, which is what it sounded like you were implying. It's true that the term "negro" was applied to any dark-skinned people, regardless of their location, which was itself a racist concept, as there are numerous dark-skinned populations around the world that are not related to one another (except in the context of being humans). "Negro" was used to describe everything from Caribs, to Africans, to native Australians, to Papua New Guineans, all of which are dark skinned but are genetically dissimilar. Basically, when you say "negroes" are native Americans, you are being a bit misleading, because the term was applied across ethnic lines and not of Native Americans exclusively.
@mr.flibblessumeriantransla5417
@mr.flibblessumeriantransla5417 6 жыл бұрын
Ok, wow. What you just said is so contrary to the truth I don't know where you possibly could have heard it. It defies all archeological, historical, and genetic evidence. I'm honestly baffled that anyone could think that. I was merely saying racist people in the past didn't differentiate between dark skinned people around the world(simply calling them all negroes despite them being different), but what you just postulated is utter nonsense. I'm sorry for being so blunt about it but there's simply no other way to put it.

This group was the one who started it all. I remember in 1979 when the Sugar Hill Gang released Rapper's Delight. I was in the 11th grade, but that one song forever changed music as we know it. Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank and Master G introduced rap music to the world. But it wasn't until 1985 with the movie Krush Groove that Rap Music became mainstream and the rest is history.

I am glad to see this song reach through to the hip-hop audience. I love all of the surf-oriented original virgins from the early 60's, but this virgin is great, too. Mos def a club mix that has widespread interspecies appeal across the galaxy.

This wasn't even considered real rap back in the day when it came out. First of all they stole their rhymes, secondly they weren't even a rap group until they were put together by an A&R, thirdly no one from the HipHop/Rap world knew who they were until they came out and lastly they only had two maybe three "rap" songs all the rest were Disco songs.
