My kids are your age and they were addicted to Tetris. This looks like another fun row. You have done a marvelous job at this quilt-a-long. I like how you showed ripping out a seam. Some people would be hesitant to do that. It's nice to know you also make mistakes sometimes. And yes, we all have threads clinging to our clothes when piecing. I think this will be so fun when we are all done. Thank you so much. I'm trying to get my daughter to do this QAL. She mostly sews clothes.

Another lovely video. It’s great that you tell everyone to take their time to enjoy the process and learn from the mistakes we make. These are are important reminders. Often we focus on perfection or getting it done. One of my goals this year is to slow down and enjoy the work I am doing. Happy sewing everyone.

Tetris was addictive! I Enjoy your positive attitude. Quarter inch seams here I come!

Yay!! I am so excited to move to the next row. I appreciate that you leave your “mistakes” in and don’t edit them all out. That makes it feel attainable. 😍

I would also like to add some advice on losing length from your seams. Thread weight and needle size can affect your seams, especially when sewing lots of small pieces. A friend was making very small blocks and having trouble with them coming out too small. She was using 40 weight thread with an 90/14 needle. I suggested she switch to 50 weight thread and a 70/10 needle. I did get quite a bit of blow back from others in the room about the needle size. But she made the switch and her blocks were then coming out the right size. As she was also using quite a short stitch length, the amount of thread in each seam increased. Thread can eat up quite a bit seam allowance. If you’re worried about the eye of a size 10 needle being too small, use a top stitch style, which is the only style many professionals use now matter what size they use. Hope this helps.

Thank you. You are so adorable and I love how excited you get. I remember tajungmy son's Gameboy and playing Tetris for the longest time. 😊

The Tetris design and hashtag designs are making this a fun design for a pre-teen or teenager. It would work for male or female but since masculine designs are a little bit harder to figure out, this will be going to my 11 year old nephew. I am making it in browns with a gold accent on natural colored muslin which also adds to the masculine feel.

Irene, I love how you focus on the importance of not only practicing the quarter inch seam, but the cutting as well. Taking the time to make sure our cuts are accurate is so very important because that can also throw our end result off. (Ask me how I know, lol). This is my first QAL, and I love that this is monthly, because I can actually keep up with that in my busy life. Thank you for all you do! And, yes, hats off to your FB moderators. They truly are wonderful, and I love the topic files where I can go to see if my questions have been previously addressed. Such a time saver. Have a great month, can't wait for the next block AND TO SEE THE COLOR OF YOUR NAILS! 🤣😊

I use my needle down position, most of the times, when piecing. About the ¼ inch seam. I am a stickler when it comes to accuracy, but I also like to enjoy the project. With that said, I believe that if you use the same technique (the same machine for the entire project, #foot, needle-position, tread (my preference is 50 or lighter weight) tape, guide, whatever you prefer) your strips will end up the same length. Don't stress yourself out, have fun. Plus! If it doesn't work out, it's always a good excuse to buy more fabric.

Oh my goodness I have waited so long for this new row, I’m not making the quilt but I watch you every day, I have re learned what my 1/4 inch rulers are for, I did paper piecing many years ago, but no longer do it, last year I made 7 quilts for my family, but I cheated and used jelly rolls, this year all the ladies are getting bags, 7 all of them different, patchwork is my great passion, Even my little budgie loves your voice ha’ ha’ ,till next time.xxx

OMG my right eye is twitching....SMILE! So happy everyone is enjoying this row - it's proved to be a bear for me. I don't have a large working surface and tried to pair up, stack and chain piece sections - Not so Much, LOL. I believe I have used my seam ripper more in the last two days than in the last 5 years. I had to lay out the blocks four times before I got it right. Don't know why this row/layout gave me such a headache but there it is. I stayed positive but grumbled a bit and finally ta dah...done. If I could be so bold as to make a recommendation...when you lay out your strips and are ready to sew and you plan to stack and take them to your machine, I'd be sure to number them and identify which sides are to be sewn. Look forward to the next row and seeing pics in the album of everyone's beautiful work. Have a great day!
