I've watched a lot of "minimalism/capsule wardrobe" and "how to"videos. This one is by far the best, love ALL the tips and the result! I too have divided my closet into work clothes, gym pieces, hiking stuff, casual etc. I really think that having small wardrobe doesn't mean making it only one-activity appropriate; rather I feel less clothes (and stuff in general) gives you time to do more activities and makes one appreciate versatile yet functional wardrobe. I have also found avoiding sale items has been key - those $10 slacks that I could not resist because they were so cheap are inevitably the wrong color, not perfect fit, style, dry clean only, etc. etc. Pieces that are full price end up being the best value because they were right for me; not just the right price.

Hi Canna! So I have finished the 30 day challenge in about a week, without even touching my wardrobe. But the time has come yesterday, and I have to say, every piece of advise you gave in this video came handy. First of all, 2/3 of my clothes are gone, and I am not even gonna miss them (going to charity, again!). I realized that I had a HUGE misconception about my color palette. I love brown, sandy colors just a lot of neutrals and greens in my apartment, so I thought that these were my signature colors. Well, nope, they are not. After looking at the remaining stuff, I like black, grey and blue. All brown and green stuff is gone with the cleaning out. Also, I buy a lot of second hand clothes (we make it a social call with my girlfriends ;) ). But these shops do not have a variety of colors. So if I like something, and it fits me... it is not a grantee that the color is going to be my favorite. I have found 5 pieces that fit the above story perfectly and I desperately wanna keep them. So I decided to look online and found a place where I can recolor them (with the newly found knowledge of my preferred colors this task was even simpler!!!). Thirdly, I talked with my mother-in-law (who I love very much ;) yes that exists) and she is going to help me turn some pieces into clothes that I love to wear. Ex. I have a lovely summer dress that is just a little unflattering at the bosom area. We have decided to cut it off and make a skirt out of the dress, therefore keeping the part I have always loved about it. Last but not least, today I am wearing a top that I have forgotten about a long time ago, it was hiding under that huge pile of unused clothes. I am feeling really good in it, and getting a lot of compliments! Thank you again, without you I would have never started this journey

I'm at a cross roads with most of my wardrobe because I've put on quite a bit of weight and I'm pear shaped. I'm struggling to let go of a few pieces that I spent good money on, like an Anne taylor pencil skirt that actually fit me very well a few years ago but I'm starting to think I'll never get the weight off. So I'm left with hardly anything after cleaning out my closet. Smh! It's harder to shop for good key pieces when we are prone to weight changes. Arg! I guess the best thing to do is invest in more forgiving shapes pieces. Thanks these were wonderful tips especially looking at our clothes that we want to give away to see where we went wrong.

I think your idea of trying to find key pieces that are a little more forgiving in the fabric is a great idea... Also don't rush the process... it took me a long time to work out my ideal capsule wardrobe and I still make silly purchase decisions from time to time! I am excited for you to start from a clean slate and build your way into something fabulous and look for fabrics that perhaps have a little more give and stretch in them... this may help with the weight issue. Watching this made me realize my biggest clothes-buying mistake: buying something that's not quite what I want because I hate shopping. I used to shop a lot at Mexx and Esprit, but they no longer sell their clothes in Canada. There was also a small boutique near my home that carried clothes I liked, but they closed. I haven't found a good solution yet, but I will have to work on that instead of just randomly buying so-so clothes. Thank you!

Also what has enabled me to "curate" my wardrobe/create a more minimalist wardrobe is losing weight (went down 3 sizes). I sold clothing that no longer fit on Poshmark app. It allowed me to really think about my style; pieces that worked so well I was a bit sad they no longer fit. I would have considered having some items altered but 3 sizes was too great a difference & what also made "letting go" of a lot of clothing easier is that I think proper fit is so important, nothing looks good if it is too baggy, etc.

This is so helpful. I watched your shopping addiction video and then this and I’m really hoping to get on track. I’m also finding my style again which I have no idea what that even is anymore.
