Haha thanks, that's really nice to hear! I think sound-wise, this one could be a lot better, but that's just me being a picky production nerd, haha!
@devilsoffspring5519
@devilsoffspring5519 Жыл бұрын
@@SugarpillProd That's cool though, I really wish the so-called "professional" studios would get a clue one of these decades. Your recordings are so crisp and clear, even big-time pro recordings just have a soggy and bass-less sound. I can HEAR everything you play and that helps me appreciate it. What can I say, it's really cool! Pro recordings are just soggy, mushy-sounding shit and it's frustrating as hell. You can NEVER hear the bassist clearly, and it's all just a compressed wall of mush.
@SugarpillProd
@SugarpillProd Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess it just depends who you listen to. I do agree about that with certain producers / bands. I think by and large, most people put out quality productions, but it is surprising how bad some huge bands mixes can be. I think people just assume they have to pay top dollar for the best mixes and producers, but often overlook the mid-tier engineers, even though a lot of people working today can deliver great sounding mixes out of their bedrooms. You can easily get blindsides by working with an industry pro, and not feel as though you can question what they deliver, as they have a huge list of famous credits to back up their work / opinions. At least that's why I'd assume people still work with guys like Bob Rock anyway, haha.
@devilsoffspring5519
@devilsoffspring5519 Жыл бұрын
@@SugarpillProd Hehehe yeah, the Big Name can sometimes get it in the way of the best sound :) I still find myself impressed with many KZbin video's sound, both on covers and originals. Stuff just done at home on a budget using only consumer-grade gear, not stuff that cost more than the house! Nice and clear, with crystal-clear bass guitar and sometimes even drums that actually sound like drums. I stopped being impressed with "pro" sound a long time ago. I spent years fucking around with my stereo, building my own speakers, messing around with my graphic equalizer, I even built my own really nice power amplifiers and was always wondering why I never heard that nice clear bass guitar ringing through the mix instead of being frustratingly masked by everything else. I love that instrument and grew up playing it. It didn't matter what kind of music it was. Non-existent bass guitar, tinny sounding drums, and "squawking", ear-piercing guitars. Frustrating as hell to listen to even though I loved the music itself. Everything compressed out the wazoo and no real impact or detail. Turns out it was just generation after generation of shitty recordings done by top-dollar, legendary producers that couldn't be arsed to give a fuck.
@SugarpillProd
@SugarpillProd Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think a lot of that happened during the 70s / 80s. I guess because that's when new audio gear really started to explode, and people were still getting used to it, or experimenting with what they had at the time. At least that's why I'd assume you get amazing sounding records like London Calling, that still hold up to this day, and then a few years later you get some really awful mixes, like the one for Crazy Train, haha.
