I am retired and 62. You helped me when going through breast cancer chemo. I’m healthy now, but I just wanted to thank you for your wig tutorials. I wore the Coolcap so I saved my most of my hair! Health is most important for sure! My siblings moved from Washington State to Arizona, but like you, we don’t like the extreme heat. Besides, we love the green! You should just rent a home in Spain. I’m also Italian and travel to Italy and we LOVE the Cotswolds too! Lots to talk about - wish you could come visit us here - we’re foodies too! All the best, Lori ❤

Nisha I’m English and a Londoner too so u.k is in my blood and for all its faults it’s home. I like the seasons…even the winter…it’s all part of what makes this country so appealing. The n.h.s for all that’s wrong is still amazing in a crisis….the wheels kick in quickly if there’s something really wrong. Yes I can see the appeal of Spain….it’s got a lovely culture, but this is my home and I couldn’t imagine leaving here altogether. I know people who have returned to the u.k from Spain because of certain uncertainties so you must weigh it all up. You’re in a beautiful part of the country in Windsor so think long and hard before you make that final decision. Your family looked beautiful and your mum looks amazing. Thank you for taking us with you x 🌸

We moved to Mexico, from the US, when my husband turned 62! We thought we would snow bird, but after a while, we decided we loved Mexico, too much, to snowbird!!! We sold our condo in St Louis, Missouri and now, have been in Mexico, 16 years!!! We are still not bilingual, but speak more than the average person. We lived at Lake Chapala for about ten years and then moved to the beach…Progreso, Yucatan peninsula! We love the heat, we love the Gulf of Mexico, love the Mexican people! We have our own pool and live one block from the beach! We are in the ocean, every day, walking chest deep in the water, doing our exercises in the water and then come home and do our pool exercises!!! We go back to the US, every other year, to visit family. Give Spain a try and I am sure you will love the slowed down life and weather! Sunny weather makes everyone happy. When we have any bad weather here, it is so sad. Thank heavens, it is so nice, most of the time!!!!! Sue,now 75 and Bob, now 77. I am sure, at some point, we will have to move back, due to our ages, but we are so grateful for the years of fun, we have had here!!!!!!!!🦩🦩

Nisha , I am few years older than your mother, living in Canada much longer than I was living in Poland. My daughter moved to Europe and I was considering moving to Poland, even though I speak the language I had hard time to adapt to life in Poland. My even older friend summarised it in “ starych drzew się nie przesadza and wszędzie dobrze gdzie nas nie ma “. Don’t worry ,your mom will be fine ,we are strong and independent women . My advice ,enjoy today ,make plans but live for today and don’t put off the things you want to do until later ,on that note , I am going to travel by myself with group of strangers through Central America to celebrate my 75 birthday .

Don’t sell your house in England, rent it out and maybe take over your mums place when the time comes. That way you can always return home if you change your mind.

We moved to Spain a year ago. It was the best thing we ever did. I have a 9yr old daughter at the time. I was worried about how she would settle, not speaking spanish. We put her in a spanish school, which is better to integrate into a spanish life. She's now fluent & I can deal with anyone official if needed. I don't speak fluent Spanish, but I can pass myself. The more you're there, the more you understand & there's always expat speaking clubs all about the place. We've not found it too difficult to settle in & we would do it all over again. You can get your Polish passport & your husband can piggyback of that. There's more in's & outs of different things, too many to put here, if you've any questions please ask me. Better to try than to wonder what if ❤

Yes, we left Santa Cruz California after 45 years and moved to the base of Newberry National Park . High elevation and in the wilderness. We absolutely love it here. We have been in central Oregon for 6 years and are so very happy. No traffic , we have a well so no water bill. Propain tank and electric, both affordable. And land. We do get snow but we like it. Slower living and quiet. Wood burning stove in the living room and we go out every year and get our own wood with a permit. I've learned how to spin wool on a spinning wheel and sell my wool yarn. My husband bought a tracker and atv and love's taking care of the property. It feels so free and wonderful. We love it here and will stay here as long as our bodies can do what we do out here. There are 2 lakes 30 minutes up the mountain from us and they are beautiful. Paulina lake and East lake, Central Oregon. ❤❤❤

We visit my daughter in Santa Cruz, CA once a year. So EXPENSIVE! Last year (2023) we bought breakfast at a mom and pop place. 5 eggs, 4 slices of gluten free toast, bacon for my husband, a cup of black coffee was $45 before a tip!

I agree with you Nisha. My family and I went to Paris/London this Summer as a graduation gift to my daughters college years. We had some difficulties in Paris, but the majority of the people we encountered were nice and most spoke some English. Bravo to you in learning another language. Your mom is beautiful, just like her daughter!

I am from America but my dad was British and we had British cousins who lived in West Sussex. A mother and her son. Neither knew Spanish. They moved in 1997. They are both deceased. But lived there until 2018. They got along well. I think you would get used to the heat. I lived in southern california and moved to the hot central valley of northern CA. My cousins and I used to talk about how similar the weather was to Spain. You do get used to the heat. We have a dry heat. It gets hot but we manage, but a pool helps. :-)

Nisha we moved to Barbados when I was young. Believe me The grass is not always greener especially with healthcare there it’s so expensive. I always remember my mum saying she missed the seasons got fed up of wearing the same clothes year in year out! We did eventually come back. What a dilemma for you I can see your reasons for going to be with your mum but also your reasons for staying to be near Max. Your mum certainly looks younger than her age 😁 x

Good Morning Nisha, thanks for sharing your holiday with us. It’s so difficult to make the decision on moving and aging parent. I would love to move to another state but my husband and I have to stay close for our parents , children and grandchildren. We decided to split our time between two states. That way we have the best of both worlds because we enjoy hot weather. I hope you have a terrific week. XXOO 💜💜💜

Hi Nisha, I’m glad you had a wonderful time in Malaga, it looks so beautiful there. Your mom is stunning and you look exactly like her! I love little Louis, sooo cute having his bath! Think carefully about leaving the UK, that’s a huge decision. We have the opposite problem, I live in South Africa and both my kids are in the USA. I worry about when the time comes when one of us is left behind, there’s no one here for the person left.☹️. That’s my worry. At least you’ve got Max there for you. Thank you for a great video! Enjoy your week. 🌻🪻💐🌸

My friend and husband moved to Spain 25years ago and kept a flat in the UK which they spend quite a bit of the summer here now due to the heat in Spain.. they are now in their early 80s and they are drawn back to the UK... its due to our seasons, friends and family... if one goes the other would be so lonely - their son lives in the UK. It's something only you two can decide on.. My brother lived in France for almost 20 years. He has been back in the UK for 7 years now (he is 73) and I think it's purely down to the fact that it's his home... for all it's faults and bad weather England was calling him back.. I think it's worth a go although if that's your desire... I would prefer to visit Spain and always come home - but that's just me!! Whatever you choose Nisha I shall still follow you on KZbin!! Be happy and enjoy life !! ❤

So nice to see you again Nisha! I’m so happy for you that you spent time with your family in Spain. I’m also glad that you are doing videos whenever you feel like it and not a ridged schedule. You sound like me…I hate really hot weather. I live on the East Coast of US and love the seasons. My husband talks about moving to Florida…I couldn’t too hot. Maybe you could rent a place in Spain for 2 months and see how you like it and keep your home in UK.

I'm waiting to hear back on my visa acceptance for Spain and will be selling up and cashing in and moving to Malaga/Costa del Sol. I will be a young retiree at 57 but in Spain I will be able to afford to retire, definitely not something I could do in the US or in the UK. I live in the USA now and have both British and American passports. I am so looking forward to getting away from everything in this country!! My brother has lived in Spain since 2019, pre-Brexit and loves it, with no thoughts of ever moving back! Nisha, so glad you are back on YT- I look forward to your videos but absolutely understand that it's a full-time job that you need to take a mental health break from. Just know that you are missed when you're gone!!

Living in the U.S., we had a decision to make when we retired. Do we stay in New York where we grew up or move to Florida where the weather is warm in the winter? We decided to become what Floridians call "Snowbirds". A snowbird is a person who owns a home in Florida and spends about 4 months there and then returns to their home in the North for the remaining 3 seasons. Doing that gave a good taste for whether we wanted to move to Florida permanently and after doing that for nine years, we decided to remain in New York and actually sold our Florida condo. I obviously don't know your financial situation or what the cost of real estate is in Malaga, but maybe trying to be a "snowbird" in Malaga for a few years would give you a good sense of whether that is the place you would want to live permanently. Also, I have one daughter and the thought of leaving her and my grandsons in NY was something I just could not do plus I do love NY. I too think of "what ifs" for the future. The thought of living in Florida, getting older and maybe sick would be unfair burden to put on her. BTW, I can see where you got your beautiful looks from. Your mom is so pretty.

Hi Nisha. I’m so pleased you had a lovely time in Spain with your family. There are many similarities between Greece where I live and Spain- you can’t beat the Mediterranean! I moved from England over 40 years ago and I can honestly say I have no regrets but I was only 25 at the time and I was free and single and prepared for any outcome. However,I was lucky as I am an official Greek citizen as I married a Greek before all the laws changed but I also held on to my British citizenship so I am dual. It’s not easy to integrate- it takes time but learning the language is so important and I am virtually fluent now.The weather is glorious and the pace of life is so much better! It was so sweet seeing dear little Louis in the bath but I’m sure he missed you. Your mum looks great for 73 !🧡🍁🎃

The area where your Mom lives is so beautiful ! A lot to think about to retire there, and glad you’re going to learn Spanish, just in case. We moved to Las Vegas in 2010, from the Midwest, and most of the year the weather is nice, but the summers have gotten way too hot, and I’m stuck inside, but still wouldn’t want to go back to gloomy, rainy, & humid IL. Your Mom looked so nice in her wigs you brought ! Glad you had a nice time, and so cool everyone could be there too. You have time to figure out a plan for retirement. I’m across the country from my family, so I can relate to that being one of your concerns. Have a nice week Nisha. 💞

It is lovely to see you enjoying your holiday and perked me up seeing some sunshine with our crappy weather! I have no desire to move somewhere hot because I don't like the heat but I grew up in Germany and the older I get, the more I feel drawn to go back there; my life, my family and my friends are mainly in the UK so it would be a ridiculous idea but my heart just lifts when I land there. It is such a difficult decision to make xx

Second: amazing how well your mum looks! you just look like friends having a chat! ❤ You will once look back and realize how much life you have wasted by worrying about things that have never happened! We are here to enjoy our lives! To me, you sound like a perfect snowbird! You live a few months in Spain when it’s cold and ugly in the UK and you spend a few months in the UK. There is always a solution! 🎉

We too are nearing retirement and already looking into which country would suit us best. Healthcare, Food, cost of living and language are our biggest concerns but we know for certain we'd like something cooler than hot. Living in a hot and humid climate already is something we've had our fill with.

Don’t do it Nisha! You’d miss England and coming back is hard once you’ve moved. It’s great to have 4 seasons, so that you can work and rotate your great wardrobes😉. Not the best summer this year but we do get some good ones! ☀️ In the very, VERY distant future after Louie is no longer with you, nothing to stop you taking regular trips to visit your Mum every 6-8 weeks and to get your sunshine fix? It’s only a hop skip and a jump away to get to Malaga. I’ve worked as a nurse for the NHS all my life and it remains the best! If you’re not happy with your local health service please complain in writing to the practice, your MP and to NHS England. Don’t leave good old Blighty Nisha…. You’re a fully fledged true Brit by now 😀🇬🇧X.

So glad u had a great break. You look very chilled & healthy with the doze of good sunshine. We would have loved to retire to warmer climates but sadly that won't happen now. Due to failed surgery I am now registered disabled and not a good candidate for joining any new country. Finances ruined and no option for health recovery. I'd say if u have the opportunity take it & go for a year to try it. Don't wait too long incase circumstances are against you. Try it and see - don't miss out on a fabulous chance. Happy to hear from you always. Much love ♡♡♡

I'm retired, but nearly all of my family lives nearby. Both of my sons live in my city, with their families and that's important to me. My parents are in their 90s and live 58 miles away. It takes about 45 minutes to drive their. I live on the Northern Plains of the US and winters are hard here. I like the snow, but we have horrible wind. I would like to move to the next state where there's snow, but not wind, but my family is here. Our summers are nice, but we don't have much spring. Winter hangs on and sometimes it starts in October. We pride ourselves on being survivors when it gets warm, again. xo~linda

Hi Nisha, I know some Spanish from taking it in school and being born in California although I don't live there now. One thing about the US is you can move states and feel like you're in another country almost. Maybe you could just rent a place in Spain for one winter and see how you both like it. A lot of people here live in 2 places (they call them snow birds) and they put their house on airbnb or something. You might feel funny having strangers coming and going. I don't think I could do it. As far as Paul learning Spainsh there are translation apps and devices that can instantly translate which would make it a little easier. My husband retired early and he wants to move somewhere warmer but we haven't because of his parents. It's such a life altering decision to make. I wish you all the best of luck.

I think that becoming snow birds would be the best option but I couldn't have strangers living in my house, it would just have to stay empty with Max checking up on it x

Nisha I watch those TV programmes about people who move to Spain when they retire but like you I am filled with questions and doubts. I always tell people if you want to move to another country the time to do it is when you're young, then your kids and their kids will grow up in that place too. I watched my grandparents - they only moved a few hundred miles to the Welsh coast but after ten years they were becoming frail and felt cut off and moved back to be close to family again. For me the ideal would be to have some kind of holiday bolthole that we could escape to during the English Winter.

Hola, Buenos Noches, Lovely snaps of your holiday in Malaga. You said your Mum speaks fluent Spanish. Just a simple reminder. She learned it. So can you. A native Spanish speaker is the best idea. Bon chance!

Your mom is beautiful. I wish I could retire. I am 63 and will probably have to work until I drop. I would love to even visit somewhere else at least but can’t afford it. Big decisions like moving to another country takes a lot of thought I am sure.

Hi Nisha, my Son and partner now live in Spain. They are in Puerto De Mazaron just now. They love it. They can both work from home at the jobs they had in the UK so it’s worked out great for them. They already owned a couple of properties out there so it was easy for them to move over. Took a while for my Son to get his residency. His partner already had residency. We love going over to visit, and yes it has been in our thoughts about retiring over there, but like you I’m not too sure about the intense heat in the height of Summer. Thankfully they have their own pool but sometimes they have spent days indoors due to being far too hot to venture out. I can do that here 😂😂. It’s worth thinking about I suppose. I do have my other Son that I would hate to leave behind even though he has his own house and life. I have always said it’s different if they move away from us as that’s there choice, but I could not be the one to up and move away from them. That is a huge pull for me. It’s a huge decision. ❤❤ xx

Hi Nisha, I think you're thinking about it because you're learning Spanish. I know you don't want to leave handsome Max, he's so cute. So, maybe if your brother moves there maybe he will take care of your mom. I'm like you, right now I'm not planning much until after the election. And I can tell you, I'm really praying! But, anyway, I know it's a difficult decision, maybe keep your home in England some and Spain some also. Anyway great video! Spain is beautiful and your mom is beautiful!! Have a wonderful upcoming week! Be safe and well. ♥️

I believe that you have to have a language test when moving to Europe now . I was looking at Cyprus & the lowest test score was 65% . I wish I could move abroad but I don't have £300k 🙈 I'm glad you had a lovely time with your family, Málaga looks Beautiful ❤️ I'm going to Lanzarote in March for my birthday, never been before & it's my 1st time abroad in 10 years . We can't wait & hopefully Cyprus in the summer ☺️❤️

We’re retired one year now. If we moved, it would be toward our children, not further away from them. They’re our #1. Climate is important, and language is essential. Europe, with climate change, seems to be moving toward horrendous heat waves. You will never have all of the answers you feel you need to make a decision, because they’re in the future. And the future will take care of itself- if you think about it, it always has. Decide your priorities, and then itemize: 1.) benefits and drawbacks of remaining in UK and 2.) benefits and drawbacks of moving to Spain. When your mom becomes too frail to live alone without family nearby, she’d probably like the peace of mind of living near her daughter, even if it is in the UK. By that point, she likely wouldn’t be outside in the English weather most of the time. I believe there’s a solution to every problem. If you did move to Spain, Paul could return to England if he needed to in future. Try not to worry about things over which you have absolutely no control. I tend to be that way myself and know the ‘what ifs’ are exhausting! Good luck with it all.

Our holiday home is just down the road from you (you can see it from the plane window lol). My son grew up there & now lives in Gibraltar. I worked with people who retired there & became old, ill & stuck. If you can, my suggestion would be downsize in the uk & have a small place in Spain & just come & go. If you have a polish EU passport you can stay as long as you like & Paul can stay with you as you are married. Here’s to España & hope to see you there at the port one day 🇬🇧🍷🇪🇸

When you visit another country I feel one should learn a bit of the language . It’s like if someone visits here in the US make an attempt to speak the language . I grew up in New York now live in LosAngeles. I will always be a New Yorker in my heart. Also when you leave somewhere it is very difficult to return if you want to . There is a lot to consider when making such a big move . Try not to worry too much being prepared as much as you can is helpful but also no one can’t predict the future . ❤️

I live in Springfield,NJ where we have 4 seasons and I do like that part. But NJ is not that great. I won’t bore you with the details. At one point we were convinced we would move to Florida. For all the same reasons you just discussed, my husband and I decided against it. So I am assuming this is where we will stay. I think you convinced yourself and Paul to stay where you are. Take care Nisha and wishing you the very best with your decision. So nice to see you on you tube. Who took care of Louie?

Hi Nisha! My husband and i moved to his native Sicily from America 7 years ago. I'm ready to go back but its a much lower cost of living here. Language is still an issue for me. I'm still at an A2 level. I've lost motivation to learn more.

That coastline brings so many lovely memories for me when my Mum lived there. I'd love to live there but yes there's pros and cons. It's not so easy to just up sticks and go there these days. We've said the best thing to do in a few years is downsize and have the best of both worlds, come back and forth. I love the heat & living up North by the Pennines is no joke it really depresses me xx

You could always move to the U.S. I love my country, its a mix of all kinds of weather. I live in Iowa, it has 4 seasons, I love them all but winter, I dread winter, the snow is beautiful, but treacherous, icy roads, not much sun. I guess no where is perfect, until we see Heaven. Your mom looks lovely in her short wig. Good luck learning Spanish. I dont have an ear for learning a new language.
