Windbreaker is not just raw fighting anime. If people dissappointed about ume's fight, it's fine i guess. But all i understand about the core story from the manga is about acceptance, found family, and learn how to become a good leader. And i enjoy every second of it 😊

Im disappointed in Sakuras fight too honestly. But its been more tolerable than Tokyo revengers and Takebitchi when it comes to the MC I guess. Doesnt make me look forward to future fights though.

@@UnifiedEntity It's best that way. Keep your expectation low so you can enjoy the show as is. For me personally, i just follow the ride of what the story offer

I feel like the implication & joke at the end with the extra scene is that "the top of furin" or the secret boss is kotoha 😭 because of how much influence she has on umemiya lmao. Side note I did not know last ep had people mixed? I guess the people I see on twitter already had the mindset that this wasn't going to just be a regular fight and in classic shonen tropes, it would be more about getting through to chouji

Does Sakura still need to be at the top since he has everyone's respect already? Well, to Sakura, yes. It's only been 3 days since Sakura even came to this town and 2 days of being in Furin versus a lifetime of trauma he's had to endure. Of course Sakura has those doubts and thinks he needs to be at the top to be respected. The story is about Sakura's character growth, he'll get there but not after 3 days.

for umemiya's explanation... remember how in ep1, Sakura talked with Kotoha and there was this whole thing where he thought Furin fought a ton, like a dog eat dog world where everyone fights for themselves. And Kotoha said how this town was unsafe with gang wars and such until 2 years ago? yeah that's what umemiya meant by needing to be the top of Furin to continue eating happy and partying with friends.

This work has a detailed psychological depiction, and is like a lesson on Japanese morality. It may be difficult to understand overseas. Episode 9 has been highly praised in Japan.

I think Sakura is already mainly got the respect of his classmates, he just needs to build on that and grow his following, he’ll eventually be worthy of the top imo

Finally caught up with the reactions! I think the show breaking the expectations like it did in EP9 was a plus! While this anime feels so young and fiery and gives us so many good fight scenes, it's also a super wholesome story written and animated by competent people that wanted to tell a story, tackling themes like growth and empathy in a (super exagerated but also) mature and down to earth kinda way. The Bofurin boys are SO CUTE and clutch! I love them a lot! Hoping to follow Sakura's adventure and that this story can keep up the quality it has shown us so far!

What a great episode. Its nice seeing a shonen anime that puts actual effort into making us care for its characters and their growth. Those disappointed sound like your usual action junkies not knowing what they are talking about.

This episode was really good, seeing Sakura being developed is rewarding for me, and Sugi was definitely jealous of the attention Sakura was getting from Umemiya !

i could only think that sakura has a problem in admiting the facts that people accepts him, because people hated him back then and, as the result, he decided not to care about them anymore. what nirei and umemiya said is basically "you should've been happy when people are accepting you well, and you have to fight against your inner struggle in admiting that fact". he still wants to take umemiya's spot (yes, to validate himself, but at this point, he couldn't seem to accept the fact that people receives him well), but it doesn't work the way he thinks, and this is his first step to become the leader of furin: that he can't do it by himself, he need others, but in order to do that, he need to accept people and vice versa. i also kinda underwhelmed by the last episode fight that took the emotional route rather than the more intense one, like deku vs kacchan part 2 in mha, but since it's about chouji's problem, i could see why

The only thing thats been having me hold on to this past episode 4 is the main character. The fighting has taken a nose dive with the consistent "dialogue/conversation" talk which I feel will have these fights follow an uninteresting pattern. But at least Sakura isnt a bitch like Takemichi who was always crying and NEVER developing fighting skills of his own. I get the message which shows a glimpse to Sakura if he was at the top....but im sure other characters will not be like this when conflict happens.
