Tasty playing. I'd love to get the ML's. When I decrease the volume at about 7, I feel I can get a more shiny sound from the V60LP's though, which brings me close to the smoothness of the ML's.

Great comparison…and awesome playing btw 😉 The ‘60s have more bite and attack, the ML are a bit smoother. ML for neck and ’60s for bridge. Middle either way, depending on the genre/style you play. Cheers

I definitely prefer the openness and clarity, spank, of the V60LP in all of your instances .. the ML has a little more push and mids but comes at a sacrifice, I think.

yes, I didn't like them in my Suhr for the same reason. They had a mid push and were cool for distortion but all the open "air" and top end was gone in the ML Standards

Hello good video, i own a suhr with V70 pickups... love em but looking for something more warmer, woody inspiring to play.. you seem to have tried both best other options. Which would you recommend trying out?

Yeah, I didn't like the V70s too much either. I did the same comparison based on a Fender Bassman as well, you can find that on my channel, too. My suggestion would be to go for the MLs if you are using some Marshall style amp, that does at least some distortion on its own, and the V60LPs if your amp goes more towards a cleanish pedal platform.

Outstanding comparison! I’ve had both these sets and hear the same things you captured. I prefer the ML neck and middle for more bite and push but like the little darker V60LP bridge.

Great demo, great playing. I have to agree with below the more overdriven the more I like the ML. Although to my ears when clean the ML have a little more output and brighter. The V60L is a GREAT pickup either way, and so is the ML!!!

@@moonsama395 yes, the master volume on that amp works incredibly well. For playing live i use a EWS subtle volume control in the loop.

Wow, what a coincidence. I have a 92 Am Strat with the same trem and also recently upgraded to the Fender locking tuners. I have the SB50, too, and I'm very interested in adding Suhr PUs to neck and middle. So this comparison is literally ticking all the boxes. Thank you!

Thx! Kept the MLs in this Strat but put the V60LPs into a maple neck strat that sounded a lot more midrangey than the guitar in this video. It benefited greatly from the chime and less pronounced mids of the V60LPs. That guitar can be heard here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXLLqauJicubeKc Cheers!
