My grandma worked for a german couple that payed my mother's education. She was her maid and my mom was her child. The husband was called Claus. He served as a Nazi soldier (not sure which position though ) his mom loved Hitler but he hated him. He was force to go to a war he never asked for. He was so infuriated of his experience at war that he swear he will never work for someone again. He created his own clothing company with his wife that was successful enough to earn them a lot. Through the years they ended up living in Costa Rica were my mom and grandma met them. He died of cancer and the wife is now like a third grandma to me.

You know, if nothing else, you gotta commend them for humanizing a group that most people view as pure evil. Look at this guy; He's obviously an officer, probably a squad leader or commander, but rather than attacking Blazko, he's just sitting there. He's just been in a major accident, probably seen all his friends and the men under his command die, and he's contemplating taking one last swim before he shuts his eyes forever, when this infamous Nazi Killer Demi-God comes by. Rather than going out in a hail of bullets and looking like swiss cheese, he just waits. He sits there, and he waits for the man who killed an entire train full of his comrades to kill him too. It gets to you, it really does.
@paccawacca40692 жыл бұрын
The fact that people think of nazis as cartoonish "pure evil" is so cringe. Its just propaganda with an INTENSE focus on white supremacy. Communists, who have done equally evil things, are not hated with this fervor. Radical Muslims are not hated with this fervor. There is nothing about nazis that makes them somehow "inhuman". So annoying. You can always tell when indignance is fake cause it is always so overkill.

@LOAN NGUYEN It's always the worst part about a war: even if the leaders who cause it were monsters regardless of circumstance, a lot of the poor sods who fight and die in the war even for the evil empire are people who you might be friends with had circumstances just been different. This is one of war's greatest horrors, knowing how thin the line can be... yet, especially when you are the defender against a war of aggression, you do not have the luxury of trying to avoid it: when the enemy comes, he or she is the enemy. War is fucking hell. Fascinating in fiction, but the reality of it makes monsters out of otherwise good people. Sadly, there are people who will take this important point about the average grunt on the other side and twist it into a lance to turn against the heroes, as if somehow it is the defenders' fault in a war of aggression that the aggressors are using innocents as their soldiers and that the aggressors suffer casualties.

@Byesteiners2 жыл бұрын
@@tannerw.1239 you didnt get the point. They want to show that all these guys are humans too, to claryfy, that its the ideoligy that makes them bad. And on the other hand, that these guys arent a homogeneous group. In the games you will meet bloodcold killers but also loving fathers and husbands. The game force you to kill them, of course because they would kill you first instead (what dont suprise me, because of all the things they heard about BJ). But still: do really all of them deserve to die equally, just because of the time and place they were born in and what they were taught at school? Despite their real personal thoughts and feelings? Yes? Because they would kill you too? Thats a understandable reason... but also for the german soldiers to kill YOU. And thats the dilemma the game wants you to get in. The Nazis killed many people just because of their place of birth. Despite their personal thoughts and beleaves... so its okay to kill every german soldier because of their place of birth and despite their real thoughts?

@@darkdruidsvale Grunts are like the easiest enemies in the Halo games, they're little goblin-like aliens that only stand a chance through their numbers. In Halo 5 (and not 4 as OP said) there's one level where you can go off down a sidepath and find a Grunt just sitting on a ledge singing a little tune. Basically its almost identical to this little gag with the Officer here but more comedic since you're actually meant to yeet the Grunt off the ledge and get a collectible from it.

Kinda just like real life. I’m inclined to believe that most of the citizens and soldiers of the Nazi regime weren’t actually monsters as depicted in media but rather just regular people wanting to serve their country or otherwise had a neutral attitude (it’s possible they also didn’t really comprehend the atrocities done by the regime, if they did, they were too powerless to stand up against it). Rather, it would have been most if not all of the higher ups that were the actual baddies.
