These videos are very informative. But I must say that this actress is great!

All of the suicide assessment videos presented different scenarios and clients that dealt with their feelings of suicide differently. The counselor has remained patient, empathic and nonjudgmental during each session.

Dr. Grande, you do an excellent job thoroughly assessing the client by asking specific questions that get the most information possible.

Very informative video! I liked the way Dr. Grande asked the client about her reasons for living and she said that she didn't want to hurt her friends. He actually evoked change talk. I also like the way Dr. Grande doesn't give up on the client.

I think the real trouble is multiple personality disorder. Today she’s Ashley last time she was Erin. Can’t believe this doctor didn’t pick up on this. 😁

This video was helpful in learning how to assess and counsel a client who was unsure of committing suicide and did not want to voluntarily go to the hospital, at first. After spending more time talking with the client and challenging her negative beliefs, the counselor was able to have the client voluntarily go to the hospital. This was a great video with great acting out the topic.

I enjoy how you complete the suicide assessments in your videos in a confident and non-judgmental way.

I liked how the counselor was confident also, and he did not back down or appear to show frustration with the client who was constantly unsure and responding that she did not know what she would do.

Another good video that shows how to deal with a client who may be looking towards suicide as an option. A lot of clients behave and feel differently regarding suicide, but I see that the consistent counselor component is to staying non judgmental, understanding, and giving the client positives to remind them about when talking about options. The upfront way that this topic is addressed is good to be noted, especially when the client asks why would the counselor care. His answers to get her thinking in the opposite direction is good to see, good information to have.

This video resonated with a situation I had been through before at my previous place of work. Bringing the client back into the moment of people that might miss them or need them is crucial in helping to reduce the suicide risk.

Dr Grande, I like the way you use some cognitive strategies to effectively restructure your client’s concept of herself and her situation.

This is extremely well done. Thanks for providing insight into these types of issues. Many people will benefit from this on and academic and clinical level.

This video was very helpful in learning how to work with a suicidal client. I like how Dr. Grande asked her who would miss her in order to try to help her. That seems like a good technique to use.

I wonder if that technique could backfire really easily if they did not have a support system in place. It would definitely work best if the counselor knew about the client's support system before asking the question otherwise their desire and suicidal ideation might be reinforced.

I hate when therapists ask who would miss me??? It's not about them and what I should stay alive with daily torment so they will be okay

Dr. Grande in the about role play it is hard to see what is more present in the client's theme during discourse -- Dichotomous thinking or real relationship stressors. Would suggesting for her a consultation with a social worker, who could help her with practicalities, from her husband's treatment facility followed by leading a discussion of the realities of death, dying and miracles maybe too be a good goal to have in mind during counselling sessions while keeping an eye on the client's set of risks?

I don't think it was necessary for her to go into hospital. She showed embivalence. I think that contracting with her that she will take care of herself and increasing the number of appointments would be enough. If during the appointments she expressed an increase of self-harm or showed signs of being more determined to suicide, then get her into hospital.

Just wanted to point out that you have been seeing this lady for a while now across several uploads and she's still messed up and suicidal... do you ever feel like giving up on her and getting a new actor to treat?
