Awesome video! Extremely versatile lure from spring till ice up, worked fast or slow...You can make the lure do everything from ticking rocks to almost a topwater over tall weeds, and everything in between. Some ideas on future vids.... Some tips/tricks/ modifications and ways of tuning them. Especially woodies. By far my favorite, but they sometimes run funky out of the package and blow out on the rip/twitch. I kinda guess my way through tuning them to not blow out. Would love to know if you have a system/way to tune blow out ones?...Also what do you like to see them doing while you work them? Should they walk? Head down on pull and then float tail up? Or head up? When do you use which one were? And If you could match it up, it would be neat to see how you work a suick with a split screen of what the lure is doing underwater at the same time. And then see different retrieves, ripping, twitching, long pauses, semi slack line vs slack line twitching, wieghted vs un weight.

First musky bait I ever received was a suick, it sat for years when I was younger fishing for other species, then after getting into musky I found my old suick, a unweighted 9” halo black model. First cast I got 35 inch pike and within a hour it got it’s first ski. The wood unweighted 10s and 9s have been unreal, I always end up using a bell sinker on the front hanger if I want a slower rise, I would imagine it would knock more too. Awesome video.

Ben, our story isn't much different. We've always had Suicks, but when we found how and when to use them things just changed for us in the musky world! Such a timeless lure!!!

Peace! Love the kids helping on the videos. Good stuff as always - thanks for the underwater comparisons. I'm a dive-n-rise guy, so I would love any and all more videos like this one! Also cool that you showed the two different finishes underwater - they always look different underwater than I think they will. I have one of the new HI Suicks with weight system and plan to run it a bunch this coming summer.

Those look fantastic, I need to get one of the weighted HI suicks. I’ve had it on the list just need to pull the trigger!
@54orbust9 ай бұрын
Definitely a versatile bait, from shallow weeds to shallow rocks, add some weight and get it off the break line. There is a lot you can do with a HI Suick. Thx for checking this one out!

Arguably, the greatest bait of all time. I love Suicks but tend to gravitate toward the wood models and put my own unique twists on them. Another great video, I expected the hooks hitting the body on the pull to be louder under water. Not it has me thinking about how I can potentially make them product a bit more noise.
@54orbust9 ай бұрын
It's in the mix as most important bait for sure, all time classic! I love the mods you make to yours!

I like the bait videos, but you could show how you are working the bait also. Seeing a short pull vs a long pull.
@54orbust9 ай бұрын
Ya, we try to include that but in these vids with shallow water it was more about staying consistent to show the difference in weights. But I'll make a note to make a vid that compares hard pulls vs short pulls vs slow pulls. Thx for the idea.

I just got my first suick and I can’t get it to swim well at all. It just sort of limps to one side and only one side, about 0-2 inches below the surface. Tried bending the tail all different ways and it didn’t help.
@54orbust7 ай бұрын
Wood suick? Bend the tail slightly downward, make sure the eye is straight up and down, try adding a split ring and use a wire leader. Use slow pulls and if you need to tune it to dive, add more bend and if it pulls to the side bend the corners of the tail in slightly until you find the right action. Hi Impact usually run pretty well, just don't over power them with a heavy leader and heavy snap.
@Honks347 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s a 7” wood. I haven’t graduated to the 9” yet lol. My tigers are still young and just now getting to the 40” mark. They seem to prefer smaller baits.
@54orbust7 ай бұрын
The 7" require a real slow pull, it is super easy to over power them. Start slow and find the right cadence for the best action!
