If it’s any comfort to you, Murray, and on the subject of making memories, I hope you know that your beautiful videos (and by extension, you) are helping others to make lasting and wonderful memories in their own lives just by watching your beautiful clips. My husband and I don’t have a similar taste in TV programmes, but every Wednesday I’ll shout out to him. ‘Murray’s on!’ And he’ll come bouncing in every bit as excited as I am to see where your next adventure has taken you. We sit together, utterly content and happy, the dog asleep by the fire, and watch you do what you do best - and these are the special moments that we cherish and will remember one day, and you, even though you don’t know us, are the facilitator of that special time. I really hope there are angels out there, and that they help you through this difficult time. With love from our household to yours. Mel

Murray I have watched and thoroughly enjoyed your vids so much-you’re such an inspiration my friend. One of the best days in my life was to walk Suilven on my own in Sept 7th 2024.The day was so spectacular and will be with me for the rest of my life!! I love that mountain so much and living in South Wales I think of it each and every day it’s such an iconic and stunning mountain of beautiful Scotland. I love Scotland so much and plan to come again in the Summer as I’ve been the last 4 out of 5 years. There are many beautiful places and mountains in Scotland but as soon as I saw Suilven a few years ago it gripped me and I had to walk it and I was so proud and privileged to have walked it on such a stunning day as I did. Thankyou so much for your inspiration and stunning vids you’ve produced Murray. Please keep more coming. Your friend Mark 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤙

I am so sorry for your loss Murray, this is a beautiful tribute to your Dad. I truly believe our loved ones are still with us when they transition to the other side and can hear our thoughts and feel our love. Your Dad has clearly inspired your love for the mountains. I am sure your family too are inspired by you. As I wrote in my previous post to you, the video ‘Caledonia mountain videos Highlights - July-December’ included a memorable moment with your daughter “A first Munro… A happy wee girl and a proud daddy”, it was such a joy to watch, I was moved to tears. What a beautiful memory you have created with your daughter and one she can share with her children and their children. Future generations of your family will have the opportunity to watch your videos and truly get to know you and share the joy of your adventures, what a gift! As you read the posts, please know you inspire so many people, people you will never meet, who are deeply grateful for all that you do. I feel deeply grateful to your Dad too, as you are such a gift to so many who find joy and inspiration in the films you so skilfully make. Wishing you and your family mountains of love. 🙏 With deep gratitude, Maya

A brilliant moving and emotional tribute to your Father, my condolences. Memories and experiences are what life is all about and your Dad was probably walking with by your side guiding you to the very spot he stood for his photo. I visited Assynt last August weather was terrible for that time of the year so never got to climb any of the mountains. I did however go to the top of Britains highest waterfall. Promise myself I will return as it’s an amazing part of Scotland it’s unlike any where else in Scotland. Thanks for sharing your experience with us all. 👍

So sorry for your loss Murray. What an amazing tribute you have made to your father. When I lost my mom a little over a year ago, I started tracing my family history in Canada. That brought me to Scotland last summer where I began my love affair with the mountains. I'm returning this summer to continue traveling this beautiful land and hike as many mountains as I can. Sometimes I imagine my mom watching what I'm doing and wonder what she would be thinking of these adventures in the lands of our ancestors. You are truly an inspiration Murray, for me and many others. Thank you for this.

He would have loved it Murray ❤. My wife passed away last October at only 56. She was a lifelong hillwalking along with me, and we love your films. Going back to the hills we walked together is both painful but brings back happy memories. Fortunately, we had time to talk before she passed, and I was able to ask her what she thought I should do with the rest of my life? Her instructions were clear - Retire, and keep having adventures outdoors. We have many many happy memories of the hills together and I can't but think of her when I'm in the hills. Happy and sad at the same time. Take it a day at a time and look after yourself too. ❤

Firstly, my condolences to your family and yourself. This one has hit home Murray, arguably the finest day I shared with my father was on Suilven when he was 72, we still dauner together but his days on big hills are over as his knees can't take it. I cherish the days with him, slower, shorter but increasingly more important. I watched this last night, then again this morning. I couldn't see the keyboard at the end to send this message. On my 40th birthday, I left to go to work offshore, my mother passed two days later. Unfortunately I never got to say "Good bye" to my mother. When I got home, five days later, having been stuck on my platform due to adverse weather, my sister and father showed me a poem that my mother had placed in a tin of nicknacks, memories and keepsakes. My father knew nothing of that tin until my mum had gone. The poem was "Immortality (Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep)", this I read out at the funeral of my mum. Beautiful, yet heartbreaking words. Yesterday was my birthday, and tomorrow, it will be 11 years since my mother passed. Cherish your memories, may they hold comfort, and find your peace in the mountains. Drew

Great video Murray and great message. As a young man I spent so much time building a successful career to provide for my family without spending enough time with them. Now the kids are all older, have left home and have their own careers. Only now do I realise how much I miss them and love them and how I would now give anything to spend more time with them. Cherish the ones you love is so apt. When you're young you take this for granted and unfortunately its only when you're older you appreciate what this really means. I'm taking early retirement next month to find more time to spend time with the ones I love and live life to the max, including lots of hiking and biking adventures in Scotland.

Great video Murray and your words are so true. My late father used to be a member of the Universal Hiking Club, he was from Yorker. I didn't get into hill walking until much later in life, but when I was younger I remember Dad telling me about the men who lost their lives from the club. He was already at Glen Doll youth hostel. You may have seen the plaque erected in their memory near Davie's Bourach. I found that memorial plaque while hiking down to Glen Doll in the snow from Cairn Bannoch and as I stood and read the words I felt a wave of emotion thinking of my father as a young man being in the same place all those years ago remembering his hiking friends. I never got to hike with my father but I do hike and summit camp with my son occasionally. I cherish those opportunities for adventure. You inspired me to carry a tent to the top and I've been a summit camper ever since. Thank you Murray.

A very moving video and a beautiful tribute - nowhere more perfect for it whatever the weather. I also saw an eagle above the bealach the first time I went up Suilven - lay down happy and exhausted and there it was floating above (maybe thought I was lunch?!)! It's a very special place. Thank you for the reminder to really cherish and never take those we love for granted - it's all too easy for time to slip by in busy lives, so thank you. There's nothing more important when it comes down to it. Take care ❤

I think the mountains are more than just an outdoor playground for many of us. As you become older, they become a place where you can connect with love ones we have lost. As John Muir once said, ' I'd rather be in the mountains thinking of God than in the church thinking of the mountains'. I can now fully understand what he meant. I'm sure your dad would have been very proud of this video.

As a kid in the 1970s I spent a lot of time climbing with my father in Snowdonia, the Lake District and Scotland - he passed away 13 years ago. last summer I went back to Glenbrittle for the first time since a family holiday we had there in August 1976. Looking back over time, and remembering everything that has happened in between can be difficult, but its important that we do it, and cherish the memories.

I am late with this comment but have just watched for the third time. This was so moving , tears came each time, but, Murray, it is a fine tribute to your much loved father. The eagle has to be a sign that he was with you in spirit. The grief will ease but the love, the memories and the life lessons you learned from him will remain, so, in a way, he will be always with you. Eagles will be particularly special. ❤😢

You did your Dad proud Murray, from another who has lost his Dad recently I just wanted you to know your fantastic videos have been a tonic through my own loss. Great to marvel at the beautiful images and films you capture and your commentary is chilled, a true ambassador of our stunning country. Bless you and your family through this rough time. Stay strong pal.
