I believe Thursday do still use cork to fill the welt gap as per other GYW boots but add an additional layer of poron beneath the leather footbed. Some models also have a leather midsole. You can see other models taken apart and re-soled by several YT cobblers including Trenton and Heath which shows their construction. Owning a dozen pairs of Thursday Boots (plus many higher end boots) I can say that the only real cost cutting has been some of the clicking around the calf leather versions where they have been less selective in what they are prepared to use than other budget brands like Loake (which are still more expensive). If you buy their more heavily processed leathers like Thursday Chrome (similar to CXL ) then you will not notice this at all. I have purchased so many pairs because Thursday boots fit me well (you may be different) and are comfortable and cheap enough (relatively speaking) that i can wear and forget and not care if I accidentally scrape or scratch them, and models like the Captain or President are smart enough for my lifestyle.

Great video. You’re very good in front of the camera. 😁👍 I own three Thursday boots, two Captains and a Scout. I love them. The quality is very impressive for the price. Their Dainite style soles seem to be holding up very well on my boots. I know exactly what you mean about the tongue slipping to one side, the same happens to me. But I do have slim ankles.

All the information quite detailed and correct, so many boot reviewers shine for making it evident how little they know about the construction. Great review! Looking forward to reviews of better brands 👍

I agree with you about the difference between handmade and machine made. We wouldn’t say that a custom dining table isn’t handmade just because the woodworker used a power saw to cut the boards into usable lengths or used a power drill to bore holes. If the craftspeople did so much more than simply position the boots on the machines, then they were using a machine for consistency and speed of production. Those Nick’s boots videos look exhausting with the amount of work out in to handwriting boots even with the heavy duty sewing machines and sanders. If they just moved materials from one automated station to another and inspected the boots at the end, then one could say that it is a machine made processes. The people would be assisting machines basically. That’s how I see it at least. Great content! Thanks

I love how informative your videos are! I'm very excited for my Thursday Logger boots! These will be my first pair of boots from the company and that are of such high quality. These wingtip boots may be my next purchase from Thursday. Love the way they look and would probably fit my "cowboy goth barista" style very well.

I enjoyed your thorough review and provided information on Thursday Boots wingtips. I had initially planned to purchase the Allen Edmonds (USA) Dalton wingtips, but now considering the Thursday Boot wingtips. I bought their captain boots in Brandy in October and was quite happy with them. The only concern I have with Thursday's wingtip is some people say it is relatively narrow; being that I take a width of "D," it has me concerned but you seem to be okay with it. Thank you for assembling these videos, as they are helpful and informative.

I'm a bit nervous about the sizing so I guess time will tell. I took advice from their customer service people who I found extremely helpful.

this was interesting & good! im looking for a dressy boot to function in basically the same type of formal use you're talking about---dress shoes arent appealing to me, but with a brogue boot, i can wear basically the dress shoe equivalent of a hightop sneaker (ha.) plus i just dont have enough formal occassions that really necessitate formal wear, so that it can be dressed down is appealing as well speaking of brogue boots---do you have any useful info on the brand robert august? are they any good? they came up a lot in my search results for dress boots on ebay, since they apparently make a lot of brogue boots in wide, but i havent been able to find many people talking about them at all. are they sketchy, or are they just an obscure, kinda recent brand?

Looks like a good alternative to the Allen Edmonds Dalton which doesn't fit me well. Black might be a good all-weather suit option.

Very awesome review sir! One question if you may choose to answer.. could you provide the width of your leg opening/bottom of the pant on your suits? I'm wondering what width i should look for that will fit perfectly over the wingtip thursday boots.

Where did you get the pants shown at 16:21? I have these shoes and they are a step in redoing my whole wardrobe. I don't not know where guys are getting these cool pants. Is there a company that makes these, casual yet dressy pants at high quality and reasonable cost? Thanks for the great review.

Nice presentation. I suppose for those individuals who don’t wear Oxford or Derby Brogues for dressy attire, a boot version is an option. Your examples looked nice. I personally would wear an Oxford Brogue. I wouldn’t wear boots, or Derby Brogue shoes for “dressy” attire. To me, boots are more for casual attire, and Derby’s are an outlier type of shoe and therefore would be my last resort. And never a Blucher; anytime. And forget split-toes. Of course only an Oxford plain or cap toe for formal attire. But to each his own. Individuals need to satisfy themselves. Brogues certainly have a place for dressy/ casual attire. They are more just for decoration now than the practical purpose as you described when they were first created. I enjoy boots for casual attire. They certainly have a place in a man’s shoe collection.

Hi Teik Really enjoyed the video. I am looking to buy me a wingtip myself but I am struggling with picking the right size. I am stuck between an 10.5 and 11. In the video you mentioned that you do not think the Wingtip will stretch as much as the Captain did for you. So my question is, does your supposition turned out to be correct? And also, would you recommend me to pick these in my sneaker size, which would be a 11, or still go half size down? I hope you having a great day and i am looking forward to an answer Greets Norman

I contacted Thursday (I suggest you do) and they suggested a half size up from my Captains. No, the leather does not stretch as much as my Captains and the last is more sleek and narrow. My experience was to get true to Brannock size. I don’t wear sneakers so it’s hard for me to comment on your sneaker size.

Hi Tei, I'm a recent subscriber. I really enjoy your content and analysis. If I may, I'd like to offer a bit of criticism. As a former professional filmmaker I have to say that your videography is a bit off. Specifically, your lighting. For example in this video the lighting is too dark, which in turn makes the image/images on screen look flat and lacking resolution. The Thursday Boots (I've tried these on in their NYC store & I'm intent on buying these) featured in this video appear darker, don't properly distinguish the tones and shades of the boot. E.g. exhibit the colored panels better with better lighting and perhaps a different lens and some filtering. I encourage you to experiment & I hope that you're not offended by my comments in any way, whatsoever. Please feel free to run any questions that you may have by me. Wishing the rest of your weekend a peaceful time. Cheers!
