The concept was brought up by a soviet mathematician but USSR didn't finance it because they knew it would only work on paper. I'm sure Lockheed Martin will be happy to hear that since Sukhoi said they stole the base design from the F-22 ... and made some "improvements" to it ... such as the F-22's inability to use thrust vectoring to induce roll and yaw moments, a lack of space for weapons bays between the engines resulting in insufficient payload, and complications for stall recovery if thrust vectoring fails.

Can't wait to see this beast with the new engines. I suppose nobody knows how the Izdeliy 30 engine looks now in real life, but I'm sure it is super killer. Another thing about SU57 that no jet in the world has, are those forward leading edge extensions that are programmable. It's like a predator's fangs, ready to bite into their victim. The 3D thrust vectoring is simply outstanding. No other jet has those to that degree that SU57 employes them.

People saying bad stuff against Russian airplanes are seriously delusional of what a capable and formidable fighters are… Every Russian Sukhoi fighter - from the Su-30SM (and export versions such as MKI, MKM, MKA…) to Su-35 and Su-57 - are a serious threat to ANY western made aircraft - including F-22/35, Rafales and so on… Their ability to detect, track and fire at multiple targets hundreds of miles away, to defend against any incoming threat with a combination of powerful ew suit, advanced rwr sensors and extreme super-maneuverability makes even the Su-30s a big threat to anything that the west can come up with… This was proven even back in the early 2000.’s when Indian Sukhois trashed American F-15Cs and F-16s, so much so that even the American general at the time admited that Sukhois represent a great challenge to US air supremacy and eventually stated that they are better platforms than anything in US arsenal… Than, in 2014. Royal Malaysian air force Sukhois (Su-30MKM variant) proved that they can handle even F-22s, especially in close combat… Many of the Malaysian Sukhoi pilots were ex F-18D pilots which Malaysia operates and they all agreed that Russian fighters have superior radars, missiles, maneuverability… Next year (2015.) the Indians once again proved that the Su-30 is superior to western planes, this time against the RAF Eurofighter Typhoons, which were hammered just like the American F-15s… In 2019. the British came up against the Su-30s, this time operated by the Malaysians, and once again got their asses kicked (there is even an article that describes one of these engagements in which Malaysian pilots managed to “gun kill” a Typhoon). Ok, these were all exercises, now let’s in real war environment… The Ukraine war. Nothing much to say abot this topic other than that Su-35s and even the Su-57s are credited with multiple air to air kills against Ukrainian Su-27s and MiG-29s (indeed, they are much less capable platforms, but on pair with earlier models of F-15s and F-16s) with no losses. They are actively and successfuly being used in supression of enemy air defences and ground targets. Unlike F-22s that are shooting down balloons and bombing some muslims over Syria, the Sukhois proved themselves in heavily defended airspace over Ukraine, which possess S-300, Buk-M1, IRIS-T, Patriot… Sooner or later F-16s will join the fight and find themselves in a same situation as the Russian MiGs back in 1990s when they confronted superior enemy force consisted of F-15s/16s/18s aided by AWACS… not to mention how these MiGs were downgraded export versions… So for the first time in history, an American made aircraft will feel what it’s like to have more numerous adversary with greater capabilities… The Russians, with their Sukhois, MiG-31s and S-400 SAMs coupled with A-50 AWACS,, will make F-16 look so bad that the Americans would start to question themselves and lose faith in this plane (which is awesome and very capable but ONLY when used integrated with other systems and in a favorable conditions, which for the first time won’t be the case). It’s reputation will become very, very bad…

Broh you got none of your facts right for one. The f22 has done much more than kill balloons and bomb places. It has several air to air kills. Second you said the mig-29 has no deaths most kills on the f22 were mig-29😂. For three you were talking about how f15 was getting its ass kicked but uh it has no deaths.... And also don't get me rong su-27 su-30 su-57 are good planes but for one no mig 29 or su-30 could kill a f22 unless the pilot was sleeping. And the facts ad up not even being bias the su-57 is a fourth generation fighter. So next time you blabber about stuff say true facts.

@@portal5886 You must be blind my frined… First of all, F-22 is not combat proven - PERIOD. This is not a matter of me liking it or not, it’s a fact. Second, I’ve never said that the MiG-29 was undefeated, and you confused F-22 with F-15, which inflicted most of the MiG-29 losses… Thrid, I’ve said that F-15 got it’s ass whooped by Flankers during exercises on several occasions, like it or not… no denying that it’s an awesome machine with many air to air kills in real combat! Fourth, the Su-57 IS A FIFTH GEN AIRCRAFT!!! It’s stealth characteristics may not be as good as those on the F-22/35 but they are there, present, which makes it different than let’s say F-18 or Gripen… It also has autopilot, thrust vectoring, weapons bay and so on… Sorry, but it is you my friend who needs to educate yourself on this topic, so start learning kid, you have A LOT of job to do, and I mean it!

@@flanker8724 alr well thank you for updating me on the f22 I must have had bad sources. But some true things are well who cares if they got there ass whooped in a exercise. For there not gonna be trying as hard for two congratulation you killed them in training only they could actually do that.... Now with su-57 I'm calling it a 4.5 gen cause yes like you said weapons bay thrust vectoring so on. But it only has front stealth like really. And for two it has screws and bolts sticking out every where not stealth. And for three sukhoi themselves said the engines on it aren't even actually ready cus they don't have a engine to provide enough thrust. Not being bias just saying facts. Sorry my friend but you have a lot of learning to do.

The Raptor can certainly dance just as well as this thing... Wish it wasn't one of the only Western jets to use thrust-vectoring though. They should have fitted the F-15EX with the thrust-vectoring and canard systems from the F-15 STO/MTD.

​@@Ariana321the US realized long ago that thrust vectoring is effectively useless in an aerial combat scenario. The F-22 mostly has it so it can maneuver without the use of control surfaces to maintain its frontal stealth aspect, post stall maneuvers are worthless in a dogfight
