Another enjoyable video. Loved seeing the old Honey Hotel. I’d heard it was closing down. Judging by the sign hung out front, looks like they are selling off the old furniture ( and I do mean old!).

I don't think that hotel is in business any more - when i tried to find a link for it on agoda there was none to be found.

Thanks for the encouragement, Owen. Since you stayed at the Key Hotel more than once I guess you liked it?

Watched this video 3 times before arriving my hotel on this Soi. Felt as if I have been there before but it was my first time there. Great informative video! Only mistake was that I discovered this video after booking my hotel. Would have used your affiliate links to book had I discover this video earlier.

There are a few old fashioned hotels in this soi and hardly found a street food stand there. I quite like the key hotel and thanks for the recommendation.
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
Yeah there were surprisingly few street food stands. And it's a relatively busy soi so maybe they've been banned from the area.

Right at that Soi that connects Soi 19 to Soi 15, next to Tony's Fitness, is a pretty good laundry place. I stay at the Dream hotel(on Soi 15) when visiting Bangkok and always take any clothes that I need laundered and pressed to that laundry. Quick turnaround and decent prices(cheaper than at the Dream.) I sometimes drop off clothing before I end my vacation so that they are clean and pressed when I get home. 1 less thing to worry about.

Nice one ESB (Allen?) - I wonder when we will get to Petrol Station Soi, we see so little of them and with so much traffic I can only assume there is just one soi full of them 555
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
Yep they don't seem to have many petrol stations in the central shopping and tourist areas.

Chez Charlie has nice dessert and savory crepes btw. And the Key hotel is decent imo, esp for location. It’s been a while but there’s a massage place in that soi 17 alley opposite the Key entrance. Never been but I saw it when I stayed there. Don’t know if it’s still around.

I am in bangkok now. Any recommendation for a tasty thai breakfast? Every single food here really superb..
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
Go to Foodland's diner called Took Lae Dee - they have several branches across Bangkok and are always cheap and cheerful. You can get both Thai and Western breakfasts there - open 24/7.

I've never seen people queuing for a moto taxi before. Interesting! Usually they're like blow flies, pests that you have to wave off. I did take one once in Bangkok. Needed to get to the Baiyoke Sky Tower in peak hour traffic. Bit the bullet and hopped on the back of a moto taxi. Talk about scary ride. Weaving in and out amongst traffic. Never again!
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
Did you wear a helmet? I know exactly how you feel. I only get on them in extreme emergencies and then I count the seconds until I have to get off . During the ride I am very conscious of being at high risk of either a serious injury or death. Then I will pop up on the Thai news as a blurry picture later in the afternoon. Call me a pessimist but I don't like putting my life into the hands of fate quite as much as the average Thai does.
@dougm30376 жыл бұрын
Yes I wore a helmet but I was still happy for the ride to end. Just survived an operation to fix my blocked intestine in HCMC a couple of weeks ago. Went to a good expat hospital FV but was still scared s@#$%less when I went under a general anaesthetic. Happy to be home revering now.

Hi , can you please check all affordable apartments long term rent near Bangkok ,we plan to retire in Thailand which very little money , thank's
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
Checking "all affordable apartments" is a bit of a tall order. Check this playlist of condos - some of them are affordable but you can get even cheaper if you are willing to live away from the BTS stations: kzbin.info/www/bejne/joSXoXafpNh3qdU
@johns88816 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much , I would like to looking condo near BTS stations , how much do you think will cost , take care .
@Eatsleepbangkok6 жыл бұрын
That will vary according to the BTS station's location. If it is near the central Sukhumvit area such as those featured in the videos I have made about sois 1 to 19 then it will be more expensive. If you are going to one of the more peripheral BTS stations such as Punnawithi/Bearing etc. then condos will be cheaper. Another area that is cheaper for condos is Sathorn where you have to take the BTS Silom line across the river - when you get to the other side of the river the condos are a lot cheaper. I rent a condo myself near the Pho Nimit BTS station. A 1 bedroom condo which costs 12000 baht per month.

A recent article in the Guardian recommends Kisso for a "laid back" Japanese expat experience, on the 8th floor of the Westin Grande. Laid back is not what comes to mind when you look at the website, more like "expensive".

A little poke shop opened up next to Tony's Fitness. Unfortunately, like all the poke restaurants in Bangkok, it is California-style poke, which is really a sashimi salad. True Hawaiian poke is a wonderful thing, but requires a few key ingredients like Grade A ahi tuna and limu seaweed, both of which are unavailable in Thailand. www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2016/06/ahi-poke-hawaiian-raw-tuna-salad-recipe.html

The shop next to Tony's is Ono Poke. facebook.com/onopokebkk/ Ono means "aroi" in Hawaiian.
