Suki's Progress - From a pup to 16 months old

What an eventful, joyful first season I have had with Suki. We have had up and downs with some amazing catches and some bad injures including rat poisoning and seizures.
Training has been easy with suki in regards to livestock training but not so easy with retrieving, I blame this on the half saluki in her.
She wasn't a confident pup at all, actually took her a few weeks to come round to us, she was slow and steady to grab rabbits especially in the nets but soon took to it after about ten trips.
Unfortunately we ended the season early with suki due to her being attacked by another dog causing a serious head injury, I am hoping this won't see her to a early retirement!
Very proud of her and how she's come on, can't wait for next season and to do a lot more solo trips with her now Paige is coming up 12 years old.

Whilst as much as it is the dog, just as much credit has to go with the trainer. Many a good dog is ruined by a bad or complacent trainer and training. The dog needs confidence. I have seen this many times with gun dogs, there are many with bad habits or simply out of control at times. The really good ones are usually professionally trained, which is very expensive. It is good to see Suki interact with the ferrets and not see them as prey and of course that goes for other livestock. It is lovely to see a dog know what to do and enjoy life. Credit to the trainer and training skills, and she is still only a young dog, but is clearly very intelligent. Well done. You should feel proud.

@@RabbitExpress Yea patience, encouragement, put plenty in front of them, don’t be too hard on them I let them enjoy it, fall in love with the game and work the bugs out as I go some of the hounds take a bit longer to mature

You've done really well with her Megan, all things considered, I'm so pleased she got over the poisoning, do you think the seizures are a legacy of that? As far as injuries from other dogs, you can't do much about the way others train their dogs, hopefully, she'll recover fully and with your TLC I'm sure she will, take care, Norfolk Ray.
