We used to keep a dozen beagles each but between the vet bills and the crazy price of dog food can no longer afford to take care of that many dogs. There is nothing like hearing a pack of dogs roaring through the hills. You can search my hunting videos and see them in some big packs.

One thing about it the rabbit has a 99.9 % chance of living to run another day. Our rabbit population is so low that areas closto are running areas we don't dare shoot them.. When we do go to places to hunt we make sure the rabbit circles first and he must be running before we shoot. All of us hunt with Thompson Encore pistols so his survival rate is very good. None of us have much interest in killing the rabbit.

@mcardery2k4 жыл бұрын
Our dogs on good scenting days will run up to 4 miles per hour but nowhere near what you guys run. Most of the SPO club have picked up the speed so much that I can no longer compete. Depending on where you live I would say there are clubs now that your dogs may be able to run. I know the upper part of PA and New York will let them roll.

@mcardery2k5 жыл бұрын
Beagles are bred to run all different speeds. The reason these dogs are going so slow her is because the ground is frozen and scent conditions are tough. They will run much faster on good scent days byt probably not as fast as you like. They are bred to run all the track and not lose the rabbit. Speed is not what we are looking for. Check out other videos and you will see them run pretty fast at times. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@paulalston56485 жыл бұрын
As a hunter myself I have to say I cant really see the point in spending hours watching and listening to beagles snuffling and baying after a rabbit that is 5 miles in front of them. Do these dogs ever actually physically catch up to a rabbit? Ever?
@mcardery2k5 жыл бұрын
People all over the world run these little beagles in all styles of speeds but very few catch the rabbit. The objective is to simulate what the rabbit has done. We just had a AKC National Gun Dog Brace Trial last week at Belmont Jefferson Beable Club in St. Clairsville Ohio. They had over 250 entries.
