To explain the mechanics of Yuji’s relationship with Sukuna a bit, he was unable to force Sukuna back in for a time because he forced him out. It’s related to the concept of binding vows (I know you guys are ahead so you probably know about them by now), forcing Sukuna to come out when he doesn’t want to has a cost, while reining him in after he willingly appeared (like in episode 2) is the opposite, in exchange for willingly coming out Sukuna gives Itadori the ability to pull him back in.

Actually no, it's not caused by a Shibari, it's because of how traumatized was Itadori before swapping with him, the psychological damage was heavy on him and this gave him trouble to come back. SPOILER | | | | | | | | Nothing could literally prevent Itadori from getting back control, even if Sukuna had to regain his full power at once, for a while Sukuna would be in control but then he would be overtaken by Itadori, because he was literally made to host him. Sukuna got that he can't switch with Itadori as he wants, that's why he made that Shibari with him to restore his heart, to make sure that when the time comes, he will be able to act for a minute without interruption and do something that can make him come back to life totally using Megumi.

@@Kal911 Sukuna literally states thats what he gets for using him without any pact and later while explaining binding vows he states that the reason he could switch back during gojo fight was because sukuna also wanted to switch with him. Sukuna cant overtake Itadori, but if he forces him to come out he cant switch back for a while, it was literally said in the manga while nothing was said about his mental state affecting that. Also weve seen examples of binding vows being made automatically without someones intention.

@@pusho9117 exactly, Sukuna literally stated that’s not caused by a shibari because they didn’t make any. It was just a matter of will and Itadori by then was just too damaged to retake control immediately. Sukuna himself didn’t expect that Itadori wouldn’t have been able to switch back after he killed the finger bearer. If normally Itadori can control the swapping it means that his psychological status is pivotal to grant him this control at will.
