He’s constantly faking mahoraga out in order to test the adaption. If mahoraga can adapt to fake dismantles then sukuna has succeeded. Mahoraga does and learns what a “feint” is, stops falling for sukunas and uses one of his own (hence why after the wheel turns he’s only now able to hit sukuna using a fake, thus adapting to sukuna)

Once you realize that Sukuna was teaching Mahoraga on how to do Faints the combat gets an another layer. There’s a difference from before and after where Mahoraga is just using his severed body parts as projectile weapons and attacking full force and then when he faints a punch at 1:16 landing his hit on Sukuna. Also shows Sukuna’s madness that he’s happy and smiling when he’s being punched as he realizes that He’d corrupted Mahoraga a divine being into ‘lying’ about their intentions via faints.

For those who wanna know why maharaga was shadow boxing it’s because he was fr hitting sukuna slashes it showed it in the manga but not in the anime so he was hitting the air for a reason

Your acutelly half right. New updates showed why he was shadow boxing. Sukuna has been half way during the fight faking his slices. He was trying to confuse maharaga by faking his slice and mixing it with actually using his slices. During the part were he was shadow boxing, maharaga was actually hitting air and his slices because he was confuse on wheater he was using them or not. Later Maharaga was able to adapt during the fight and actually started to fake his attacks as well to confuse sukuna.

Some animes don't have much difference between tv and bluray, hard to find animes that has extra scene in the bluray, but oh dawg this important scene is well made, glorious! This is the result what they could do if they have more time working on it before, tv version feels underwhelming because they dont have much time before the deadline date so they rushing the production.
