I interpreted him saying “choosing another path” as him saying he was going to try to find value in love, not become a “good guy.” His relationship with Uruame and others was hindered by his hatred for others because of what other people did to him in the past. Now that he was proven wrong about the value of love, the next time he’s given the choice, he’ll choose to find love. Sukuna never actually said he regretted or he was wrong about not caring for the weak, only that he was wrong about finding love as worthless. Edit: Sukuna actually refutes Mahito’s claim about Sukuna being driven by revenge by basically saying, “No, it was the only way I knew how to live.” He wasn’t driven by revenge, he really was just that guy.

I don't think this was that bad, Sukuna wanting to try something different doesn't ruin his character at least in the way I interpreted it. I mean he had the same growth as choso did in that he died as a curse so he might come back as a human, in a paradoxical sense he also kind of did but as yuji. It makes Yuji's "you're me" hit a bit harder in my opinion. I'm also happy that my version of sukuna's last words turned out to be correct because I read "I'll always be a curse." as more of a defeatous (if that's a word) than as a proud declaration. Cause you gotta remember, sukuna didn't associate himself with curse, or human. He simply was him, he lived according to his own desires and when you fulfill one desire a new one can pop up. Maybe it's just glaze, maybe I'm illiterate but this made me love Sukuna a bit more

Yall such doomers. Gojo didn’t want to be mourned, he wanted the next generation to move on and be stronger than he was. Not only in strength, but in character. He is the Buddha figure of the story, he ascended to Nirvana after being enlightened. The jujutsu society moved on stronger in his honor. Mourning him would be disrespectful. Sukuna is stuck in the cycle of reincarnation because he was not enlightened. Trying a new path because his worldview was shattered is an entirely sensible end to the character. He lost because he would not accept love, he did not understand the mutual love of mankind until his final moments, when Yuji defeated him with the help of everyone. Sukuna isn’t ruined for this, he’s bettered for it.

This is evident even in real life when people who have been hated and bullied end up becoming monsters. To me, this kinda seems like a natural progression based on how these two characters are juxtaposed. Gojo’s hubris causes him to be stagnant, Sukuna’s hubris causes him to be dynamic. Gojo’s tragic flaw came from hesitation - hesitation to dispose of geto, for example - because strength gave him no sense of urgency. Sukuna’s hubris leads to him consuming and growing. Sorta like, Gojo got to the peak and stops to admire the view below - Sukuna reaches the peak and continues to look up. Gege was a little heavy handed with how drastically Sukuna should/would have changed, though. (Maybe I’m just bitching for more JJK but) I think this progression would’ve been more adept over several more arcs, as Yuji’s ideals slowly impress their way into Sukuna’s mindset.

sukuna's mindset was already faltering when he slashed higu. blud was asking himself why he wasn't content with what he was doing anymore. yuji proved it to him that he needs other people to enjoy and to thrive in life, which sukuna saw and understood. he wont be a good guy in the next, like yuji said how people are born determines who they'll become, so the fate of sukuna's next life is entirely still dependent. its just that now, he's actually learned and expanded his worldview after it has been shattered after 1000 damn years.

Yuji didn't "talk no jutsu" sukuna. He died still following the same principales. What itadori said was still correct though, since sukuna was a product of the influences that he was surrounded with. I guess we have different vision about the character. Sukuna himself said that losing equal death for him. For him, he followed his path because he was always winning so he thought his philosophy was right. But now that he lost. According to him it makes no sense to follow the same path. So he took his L like a champ and decided that maybe he will try a different. Now that you don't like it it's fine however what happened with Sukuna is very consistent with what has been established with him. I fully agree with Gege on that matter.

Honestly, this is the way i interpret it, opinions on the rest of the chapter aside. (sorry for the yap in advance) Sukuna's character throughout jjk has been extremely hedonistic, Mahito confronting him about his reasoning for that (his terrible upbringing) and him wanting 'revenge' on society doesn't take away from that, hence Sukuna brushing off what Mahito says. He disagrees, given that he lived the way he wanted to for himself BECAUSE that's all he knew. Throughout the story there's this clash of ideals between Sukuna and Yuji, given that Sukuna believes that one's own strength trumps all and should dictate their place in life, and that if one is weak they should spend their life stifling their misery or just die to save themselves the trouble. Yuji believes that through relying on and living with one another and developing companionship to appreciate life's gifts, because he was raised with a figure like his grandfather, someone the likes Sukuna never had, you can triumph over everything no matter your pain or obstacles in your way. We see this in their fight, Sukuna getting frustrated over and over that his overwhelming strength cannot crush Yuji and his ideals, and, no matter how you feel about the ending of the fight, this is a fitting conclusion for Sukuna's character. He believes that to lose is to die and to be weak is to lose. We see that throughout the story, especially the end, characters like Kashimo and Gojo attempt to reach and sympathize with Sukuna as the strongest of their generations, but he never could with them. It took Yuji, someone who, without his grandfather, would have most definitely walked Sukuna's same path, defeating him in the end and yet still accepting him, to make him acknowledge; for the first time ever, he, and his ideals, lost. His ideals were flawed, and, maybe in the next life, he'll walk a path that's different from the one he chose before. Not to be a 'good guy', but to actually live instead of brushing off everything Yuji attempted to show him. Seeing him be content with this fact is why i feel pairing him with Mahito here is a perfect fit. Mahito is a true curse, and curses never change the nature of who they are. He will be bitter to the very end. In contrast, in defeat, in death, Sukuna proves that he doesn't let his curse define him, and accepts that he might've been wrong. He may be The King of Curses, but he doesn't stand with them, or is alike them, but above.

I think many of yall sometimes forget that even people IRL can act like this, where they stubbornly go down a path to prove something, even if they say it's solely of their own interest. Also Gojo's arc is already concluded. He got his own moment after he died, so Sukuna also got his. If anything the whole manga kind of set up for Sukuna to eventually get talk no jutsu'd and have this moment after death. The countless situations about love with Gojo, Kashimo, and Yorozu prove that. I think the ending is poetic, yall hating because your glorious blue eyed king didn't come back in someway.

I could see Yarozu being the character to not pull Sukuna down a bad path, but be the person to keep him on that path and not want him to stray from it while Uraume could be a character who loved Sukuna but didn’t want to influence him and wanted him to be his own person no matter he wanted to do or thought he should d. i can forgive a BAD ending, and i dont think this is a BAD ending, i guess it is a INCOMPLETE ending. like, i like the themes that he proposed and would like to see more of them. but theres sooooooooo many things that we dont get answers that is hard to take anything serious. before anyone came saying "but u dont need all answers!" or "what was the answers he didnt gave ?" bro, please, think a minute with me. its something similar to the boku no hero thing. if the author presents u something, u start correlating that thing with the whole manga. when the author of my hero academia makes the conscient decision of putting a romance-ish thing between deku and uraraka in early chapters, its because HE wants us to think that this thing is importante, u see me? but then he shoves all of it into his asshole in the end, and we go like bruh so if gege puts merger, clans, gojo aftermath, kenjakus whole history, heian era, yuji family backstory, megumi being hit by unlimited void 4x (this one I CANT), nobara disney ressurection i mean bro, OF COURSE we would assume that this was important. and we should adress it. he didnt need to adress it, if he was going to exclude it anyway, u get me? but u know where he shove it, right? ok i will stop talking now, but tl;dr = it was needed another arc. i dont hate this chapter, nor the previous 2. i just think that is extremly incomplete. +20 chapters and this manga would be 9.5.

I have no problem with this it doesn't take away from his character. Plus, gojo's life was already done. He had completed his arc and found someone that could match him. His death was satisfying to me, ans sukuna getting that hint at redemption is like a good moment for him as a character and kind of adds depth to him than just being this calamity this force of nature like everyone said he was.

Sukuna going north is not ridiculous lmao it shows how gojos and yuji ideologies were simply better and that overcoming sukuna’s ideologies as in defeating him showed sukuna was wrong and that’s why he chooses to walk a different path this time. Also the flashback with Gojo and yuji gives that proper closure between the two and we don’t often see Gojo deeply contemplating his decisions. In the end of the story, yuji was able to live up to his grandfathers request he was surrounded by people who loved him. Gojo may have lost the battle but he won the war. The next generation will no longer have to be alone. Gojo didn’t want people to rely on him. Not hating at all but you seem like most of the hate is for gojo not coming back when there are way more other reasons that are way more deserving of criticism. Gege himself said either one dies or one survives out of the 4 (nobara yuji megumi and gojo). The ending was definitely rushed but by all means it wasn’t bad at all and we are likely getting a part 2. 7/10 ending has issues but for the amount of time gege had left he made a decent dish. I’m satisfied personally

Sukuna basically accepted the defeat, both physicall and ideological. That shows intelligence (watch baby Mahito bumbling about nothing while being dead instead of accepting it as Sukuna does). It's a shonen. We predicted both Gojo's death cuz plot going forward and Sukuna's defeat as well. The ending is not a big cake or something, but it's pretty basic. Not bad, not splendid either. I m okay with it.

Why did gojo need change or redemption? There was no reason for him to go north. He learned from the loss of his best friend, helped cultivate a new generation to change jujutsu society, and got to die flexing on everyone in a final confrontation, going all out. Gojo didnt need to go north, because he has been going north since that convo in the street with geto. Sukuna going north was foreshadowed over and over. "The one to teach sukuna about love is..." Yuji didnt even talk no jutsu him. He threw hands and beat sukuna. Sukuna's world view was validated by his flawless win/loss record. Getting handed an L in death was his wakeup call. Yall look into the concept of samsara and i think youll see where gege's writing is coming from. I'm sad that we couldn't get more, but I'm glad for the story we got. imo

Gojo was never meant to go North, he was always a good person so why the heck should he change himself and live as a different person? Sukuna had that position more fitting for him, this chapter does give more depth into his character by a bit which is nice. You don’t just magically follow the hedonistic ideology, there ought to be a reason. Overall, yeah the ending wasn’t as good as we all had hoped it would be like, a lot of unanswered questions + Gojo not being mourned (which i TRULY hope that gets changed in the anime, cuz in writing sense it would make the ending more emotionally impactful) But honestly, i’m glad it’s a happy ending. Could’ve been better but, at least it wasn’t worse. People are over-exaggerating in my eyes

So many haters. Actually thought the ending was pretty poetic. Yujis last convo with Gojo was a perfect send off to the man himself, and I think Sukuna going North is perfect. Yuji didnt talk no jutsu him, he proved he was the steongest. And now that Sukuna lost he would try walking the path of the strong. It took Sukuna DYING to accept that. He had to lose. So it wasnt just a talk no jutsu. It was by being completely defeated by Yujis power and ideals. Also whos to say Gojo didnt meet Mahito, its just not shown. Why would we need to see that, they have no connection, idk bad take. We didnt get everything we wanted but I think Gege made his point, and he did it without bending to his ungrateful fans. A sequel would be really great tho, this ending feels complete but also left many threads open for the future. Not gonna say its perfect but I think in time it will be more appreciated.

He didn't abandon his original ideals, but they didn't work out this time, so now he seeks a new approach. People change, characters evolve, and Sukuna is no exception. He's outgrown his old mindset and is ready to explore a different path.

Everybody really forgetting about sukunas battles now. Sukunas end was done fine he himself stated to yorozu that he would bend his will to anyone who beat him. He refuses to admit to yuji but will at least hear him out now because he beat him. Sukuna also does not care how he was beaten and in his mind the strongest is being able to win no matter the scenario. Sukuna was also in deep thought when he fought yuji but fully ignores him until he is beat. I get the other criticisms but sukuna was done pretty well entirely. It does not counter anything he has said before.
