Good video! Been looking for info on setting up sula shrimp tank. Hopefully will be able to do it in the coming month (probably by april) Question! Great question and thank you for your support. I've got locally tank bred, about 30 mins drive there's a few local sulawesi breeders. Some are wild caught, got to be careful with some, I had some with diseases. I haven't gotten locally bred but shipped before as there's a few sulawesi keepers in canada but locally bred is easier. They ship ok the wild caught ones. Hope that helps

Great video. So easy to follow. Makes me want to get some now lol. Question for you, do you at any point remove the Neocaridina shrimp or do you simply adjust them to the higher 8.5 ph with the 50% water change? I'm assuming they won't breed with Sulawesi if you do in fact leave them in there right? just curious. Thanks for the great video Ray
@RWAquariumPages Жыл бұрын
Thx great question I do it with the neos and no issues. They don't breed with sulawesi. Or you can start with 8.5 right off the get go. I had lots of 7.5 left over so might as well use it for cycling

Hi Ray, what temperature do you actually keep these shrimps at? I am confused. In your video 1:37 minute in, you said 20 Celsius is 84 F. Do you have some other temperature conversion scale? Maybe the audio not clear. Maybe you said 28 is Celsius. So you are really keeping these shrimps at 28 Celsius? But 28c is only 82.4 F. Not 84F.

One question. Just got some purple Hercules rabbit snails and they seem a bit sluggish. Fed good at first and probably taking a rest after their journey but do you think the higher TDS in tank effects them? I am going to do a water change now and see if that helps.

@RWAquariumPages Thanks. They were the only ones that were closed up a little when I opened them up. Got them in and they went to town and pushed through the substrate and ate what I put in there. Thanks love this video, made this summary for reference Highlights 🌊 Sulawesi shrimp thrive in specific water conditions, with a pH of 8.1 to 8.4. 🐚 A 10 to 20-gallon tank is ideal for breeding and stability. 🪨 Use inert substrates like crushed black lava rock for optimal shrimp health. 💧 Reverse osmosis water is recommended to maintain low TDS levels. 🌱 Beneficial bacteria and nitro bacteria enhance the aquarium ecosystem. 🐌 Adding snails aids in cycling and biofilm production. ⏳ Allow 3-4 months for tank maturation before introducing shrimp.
