Either Mustafa or the Friends of Mustafa Association should have been able or at least tried to get rid of Rustem during his exile after the Janissary incident. The Sultan would never dismiss a Vizier at the request of a Sehzade, the demand would only make Suleiman more suspicious and paranoid.

Remember this is historical fiction. They need dramatic peaks but the writers do the talking here. I really like this show though. The main issue is that Suleiman was magnificent. He ruled the Ottoman Empire for 46 years. No small feat in itself. You dont survive that without making decisions that are ruthless. One must remember that he instituted many changes that greatly benefitted his people during his rule.
