She knew Suleiman so well because of the years they were living together. They already have 4 children at that time and Hurrem could have thought that it was high time for their marriage. Well, this part is actually 100% historically accurate. It's one of the famous Hürrem/Roxelana story, how she got the Sultan to free her and then, by denying him and using that muslim law loophole, got him to marry her. It's hoestly pretty well thought. High risks = high reward.
