@@milliechook7375 Basically like, okay fine, maybe you'll get sent off to some far away palace but he'll keep doing whatever he wants to do. That's the most unrealistic part about most of this. The way things were back then, he just did what he wanted and people had to kinda tolerate that no matter what.

My Fave is Gulfem telling Mahi how much she suffered. Because before Hurrem had dethroned Mahi. Mahi had dethroned Gulfem.

It's not just that. Gulfem had 2 kids with Suleiman before he became the Sultan, but they died. She is the one with real reasons to suffer.

Haha! His mother pulled the old fake faint trick to rein him in. He isn't caring about it now. It is her own fault. She tried to execute Hurrem with Ibraham and ended up making him realize that he couldn't live without her. But looks like he can do without both of them as he subtlety warned them.

Mahidevran looks like she's about to genuinely keel over and faint. Also the look on Suleiman's face as it changes from happiness at the solemnisation to the slow realisation that everyone is against his decision was masterfully done by the actor.

I think he is realising that Hurrem was correct when she told him of the concerted efforts against her personally. He is seeing it for himself - they can't even be happy that he is getting what he wanted, simply because it also makes Hurrem happy.

It was against their tradition, not forbidden in the religion. Reason being that if the empire falls, no one captures legal wifes of the king, since there are none. That's what I've read.

I am very confused with one thing about all this. Just who got the money for her. Usually it would be the father right? But she was a former slave. So does this mean that the person agreeing to the marriage got them or her?

It was her Haq Mahar; it is a woman's right when she gets married in Islamic law. She can demand anything reasonable from the man as her Haq Mahar, it could be money, land or property or anything that she sees fit. And no, the father doesn't get the money, whatever she demands she keeps it and nobody has any right over what she demands be it her husband or her father. But obviously, there is the law and then there are people who choose to follow it or not... in many cultures the father takes the money, or the in-laws take it back in some cultures .... But to answer your Question: Hurrem Got the money and she will keep it for herself!
