That looks like a neat little survival tool hell yes.

Hey they changed these from the version I have. Instead of the flashlight, mine has a compass on the end. Pretty cool.

Very cool tool, I think I'm going to work it into one of my kits. Thanks for the video.

Cool tool and review. One thing i'd pack in, around the cutting tool (or ferro rod), would be some ash+cotton (for fire starting).

I don't understand why a bottle opener is so important that it's included in most survival tools/kits. Is it just a filler or is opening a bottle (what bottle, btw?) really such a problem that your survival often depends on having it?
@KitbashedSurvival4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't get it either, but i guess it's tradition or something.
@alexandergutfeldt11444 жыл бұрын
Elma Robberts I wonder if the 'bottle opener' might be usefull to open canned food? Granted, that isn't 'survival' either, but at least more usefull for me, since I don't drink beer or any other bottled stuff, except whiskey on rare occasions!

many people have no idea how to open a can or a bottle without proper tools ....just with a knife very easy can do this

That's my biggest pet peeve! I'm out trying to survive with minimal gear... find that big case of long forgotten bottle capped liquid food and realize my tacti-cool survival kit my life is depending on doesn't have a bottle opener and of course this always happens when I am in a proper sandy desert without rocks or anything else I could improvise a bottle opener from :( ;p

Great video as usual. Is there space in any of the compartments for even one tinder stick for fire starting?
@KitbashedSurvival4 жыл бұрын
there might be a very small amount of space for some tinder

I wrapped some jute around my fero rod. Its not a lot of room so what ever you go with has to be very compact
@d5lta_f0x2 жыл бұрын
neat addition to my gadgets.. the only thing is I haven’t field tested this in terms of fishing. The wound up line unravelled is a bit stubborn to cast; probably going to have to replace it with nylon

Rather than have to physically hold a fishing 'rod' and constantly watch to see if you've got a bite, I bought two sets of Military Speedhooks, which may be left set whilst I attend to other things. I also have a separate, compact fishing kit which can also be used to increase the possibility of a fish appearing on the menu. Speedhooks may be set up in different locations and will also work as land based traps to increase the species one may hope to catch. Ideally, I'd like to find a large rack of smoked BBQ ribs in the traps, already cooked to perfection! Until that occurs, its back to my Speedhooks and little fishing kit...

Yes, it rattles. You can actually hear it in the video a bit IF you are listening for it. I was only because of your question, so I thank you for that :)

@@james0000 You're welcome. Stealth might be important, in certain survival contexts. And, noise-discipline is helpful for that, I hear.

A glass breaker? Gee how many times in a survival situation have you needed that? And if it's for the glove box, how much time do you spend figuring out which side it's on and then taking the time to unscrew it? Very obviously a dumb afterthought...

If anyone thinks they'll be able to unscrew the correct section to get to the glass breaker in an emergency situation is dreaming. I really do think this thing Is pretty worthless and gimmicky.

Don't you ever train with your gear? Work with every piece of gear until it is second nature, don't ever expect the tool to do your thinking for you.

@@jacktribble5253 Complicated things like this are not the right choice in a stressful situation where your life is on the line. When you don't have time to think or the adrenaline and stress gets to you, it can be surprising just what you may potentially forget how to do.
