Youreallygotmenow ! He is and he isn't. He is great at interviews, and brilliant as a musician, but lyrically he struggles to identify the intelligence of his listeners. I also think his decision making, as it relates to the direction of the band, has been poor. And again I think that comes down to underestimating the intelligence of his potential fan base.
@MaxIsFuckingTrash6 жыл бұрын
Minacious I kind of feel you on this , I love the new album just not as much as their older stuff . I think he struggles so much with song writing is because all he really knows or feels is aggression & aggression leads to yelling or playing whatever instrument loud as possible to get the anger or whatever negative emotion you are feeling , out . So when I think they did When Legends Rise he really had to be more melodic & open & calm/focused to get the sound on their album , I feel as if he didn't know how to do that so he struggled quite a bit. He's even said he was nervous & reluctant to come out of his comfort zone a lot of the time & has said he's not sure if the songs would sound right live because he really did take a toll on his voice for this album . I love this band but sometimes it's better to take a break from Godsmack .
@thedarkside0fmars10 ай бұрын
14:13 "they're more commercial" that is the most honest statement I've ever heard from a legacy artist 😂😂😂😂😂 then when he goes on to say "might lose a fan but it we gain 20 more $$$$$$$$$ wasn't he just saying in the earlier part of the interview how artists need to acknowledge that not everyone else's fans will be their fans and artists need to appreciate the fans they have and be honest about the music they create? Amazing

Every Godsmack should hear this interview from Sully so they get a clear understanding about the new record. I honestly love the new song. I like all Godsmack music. I'm more of a fan of melody as well in music but i also like other types of music including harder or heavier rock. I like Blues, Piano music. So I'm open to different kinds of music. If i don't like something i simply don't listen to it and not ruin it for other fans. I like people who can enjoy music and not react all the time and criticize everything you hear or see. The new song is great and Sully and the guys should be proud of their new song. You can't just like heavier music, you gotta be more open to different kinds of music. Sully is a real musician and artist he's gonna be open to new music and he should be.

See, I think this is the problem right here. Godsmack has sounded the same for a long time because he has taken songs that "don't sound right for Godsmack," and separated them into solo projects. There were a lot of songs in the first album that I thought would have been amazing if they incorporated the whole band.
