Wow 85 & 90 degrees. Come to Ohio. We've had a day in the 70's here & there. Most days don't even hit 60. In fact there is a snow skiing resort down the road from our farm. Not all of the snow has even melted yet

When installing U joint bearing you want to use a vice not a hammer to insert the bearing cup because with a hammer you can easily pop a needle bearing out of it spot and damage the hole thing. What i do, is use a vice to push smoothly the bearing cup into the u-joint and this gives me complet control on the depth i insert the cups. Now to push the cups into position i use a socket of the correct size in the vice jaws.Once the snap rings are in place i will then use a hammer and tap the yoke to loossen the bearing cups to the proper setting position against the snap ring. This way the U-joint somme loose and operates properly, if the joint is stiff i will use a punch to open or close the yoke and free the bearing pressure .

Congrats... On finally getting some Dusting Work done... Have you already Pre Purchased your Bags of "Dust" for a cheap price and stored them in a dry non humid storage area on the farm or at your house... Has your tractor dealer given you any reasons yet why your tractor hydraulics are screwing up... Have you already been pricing a Duster like the really nice functioning one you showed us in this video... That first duster i'm sorry to say has seen lots more way better days i'm afraid cause it looks to be quite old and worn out... Good luck with dusting the rest of your vineyard, and also purchasing a Duster like the nice one you were lucky enough to use in your vineyard... Thanx for sharing...

Tara, what a great update. Glad you were able to leave your stress behind long enough to recognize AJs' achievement. The application went much better with a duster that didn't arrive on the Mayflower.(Sorry mentor lender) I love seeing you work with your Dad, he is a gold mine of knowledge. You need to mic him up! Probably not. You mentioned that you ran at a lower speed. Did you adjust the duster or is there a little flex in the application rate? Are you seeing a phytotoxic reaction to the first day of dusting? Get those center rows smoothed out and you may not need a new seat. How else can I try to micro manage you? Thanks for putting up with my crap.

5:26 The trick to changing U-Joints heat. If you do it right the grease in the caps will just pop them out....Then just use ratchet sockets and a vice to reinstall... super simple. Heat the knuckle/yoke part of the of the collar first so it expands to release the U-Joint caps. Then heat the piss out of the joint and caps and that should do it,,,,,,,,pop. If the pin bearings are too damaged and the grease is not there...... force grease into the cap... tape the gap so the grease can pop the cap out and then burn it till Satan winces, or it goes pop. True story.. I pulled the drive shaft off an old as dirt Box Truck, it had to weigh 80 lb,s. I used heat but the caps would not pop. I got a piece of wood and was going for a hammer then decided to put it on the work bench. I knocked errything out of the way and picked the heavy thing up to the bench,,,, Stay!! I went for my hammer and touched the hot part of the shaft, it rolled off the bench and both caps exploded when it hit the floor.. nice. The next shaft I did I just dropped after heating, and it came apart too... That drop trick never worked again, and tried it every-time if the caps did not pop, but 99% of the time they do.

When you use or operate a new piece of equipment (old or new) do you take the time to read the operators manual and familiarize yourself with all the adjustments and the trouble shooting section in the operators manual. It could solve a lot of guess work for you. If the manual is not with the equipment i am sure you can find it on the net. Having worked at JD and NH dealers as a mechanic i have seen many tractors coming back 15 yrs latter and find the operators manual still in the plastic wrap behind the seat compartment .I have also seen many complaints against the equipment that would of been solve if only they would have red the operators manual. I have often heard customers saying that they have been operating the machine for 10yrs bla bla bla and to inform them that they were doing it the wrong way. Got the book out of its new plastic wrapping and opened it to the info that was missing for 10yrs. It is very important to take the time and read the manual completely before using it and also the trouble shooting section that is usually at the end of the book. It can solve a lot of frustrating days, and go back to it when you have a problem.
