In fact the charity of Kosem was very clever. I mean I have no doubt that she had compassion. But you remember the scene in season 1 where she gives dowries to poor girls for their weddings. Historically, not only did that allow her to do good to those around her, but also she had a very good network of spies (the women they married, in particular her slaves whom she freed before finding them a good match, allowing them to report to him the facts and gestures of their husbands). Plus that increase the popularity of the dynasty. It was very effective for her regency and surely for her son Murad (for Ibrahim no need to say anything XD)

I dont like Kosem that much however she is right. You cant rule with anger and kill everyone in your way like Murad does. You have to listen to people sometimes thats what true leaders do. You cant expect them to be happy or stay silent with every decision you make just because your king.

Kosem had way more political savviness than osman, Murad and Ibrahim combined. She understood the importance of relational support and reputation in order to keep power on the long run. Meanwhile, they were overly confident about their power coming for their title alone, dismissing any other parallel factor, which also led to time blindness and ripple effect ignorance. For that mistake, they literally paid with their lives. Meanwhile, Kosem outlived and outpowered them all.
