Everyone gets worried because of the plague in the city. Suleiman gets worried about Hurrem's health and directly goes to her. Sultana Sah finds out that Lutfi Pasha has had a meeting with Hurrem and wants an explanation from her husband. When Prince Mustafa sails without her father's knowladge, they fall aout with each other more. As Hurrem looks for a way to be able to go back to the palace, Sultana Sah tears the heart out of Hürrem.
Hurrem gets angry because of Rustem's daring but she finds the idea of marriage logical. Meanwhile, Suleiman consults Sultana Sah about it. Sultana Sah understands that Rustem has chosen Hurrem instead of her. She is determined to prevent this marriage.
Sultana Sah learns that Lutfi Pasha has met with Hurrem secretly and asks an explanation from him. Lutfi Pasha, who has got angry because of what Hurrem said, ask something else from his wife.
Mihrimah gets supported by Bali Bey during her mother's absence and builds up hopes again. She talks to her mother. As she was dreaming of marrying Bali Bey, she learns about Rustem Pasha.
In the meantime, Prince Mustafa sails away to be able to catch the pirate who has ensanguined the Mediterranean. Mustafa doesn't realize that he's losing his father's trust while he's winning the people's appreciation.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

I think Hürrem was truly prepared to fight for Mihrimah's sake if Bali Bey had truly been in love with her too 🥲I'm always so frustrated with how the writers opt to make Hürrem the "villain" that matched Mihrimah to Rüstem when, in reality, it was Suleiman that overturned her decision to wed their daughter to another, younger man because he wanted to elevate Rüstem.

@@princess7jasmine I mean, as Mihrimah's real life marriage (and other marriages of other Imperial princesses) prove that's not really a block to a union in this era. But that wouldn't keep it from garnering some eye raising attention even back then (see the marriage of Henry VIII and Katherine Howard, for example, that, wildly, was happening around the same time as Mihrimah's own).

Well, bali bey doesnt want mihrimah sultan. We all remember what he said few episodes ago. Rustem pasha is the best choice, otherwise shah and hatice will involve and find someone of their own. Its for the good of the dynasty. Rustem pasha is needed. Hurrem sultana tried with bali bey. She really tried.

@@nielubieinceli Ironically, it was his influence in real life that saw Mihrimah wed off, but, in the show, he does consider her opinion (but not what she's being pressured on both sides to say...).

Even though Malkocoglu wasnt on anyone's side besides Suleiman exclusive, I imagine Hürrem was truly wishing he had feelings for Mihrimah so that the Rustem marriage wouldn't happen.

It, ironically, mirrors the historical truth a bit in that, apparently, Hürrem wanted to wed Mihrimah to a governor from Egypt who was reportedly handsome, but Suleiman overturned her decision. Also, if there was a chance that Bali Bey actually _did_ love her daughter, I think Hürrem was prepared to fight to give her that, but, as it turned out...

@@nielubieinceli Actually, at this point in her life, as the only daughter of the sultan, Mihrimah _was_ considered a "hot potato". Given that her aunts were otherwise wed, she was really _the_ way for either of her parents to establish a political union. (Fortunately, the Rüstem of real life was nowhere near this creepy. His character is heavily influenced by the traditional but incorrect image of him being the one to bring about Mustafa's downfall, so he basically becomes the writer's dumping ground for all bad traits.)

@@nielubieinceli Outside of the bit in the parenthesis, my response was entirely about the show itself. Like, literally, at this point in the show all of Mihrimah's aunts are married off and she's seventeen years old. Those are all establishing factors that turn her into a "hot potato" since she's not just of age to be wed, she's also the only Imperial princess who _can_ be wed.
