Sultana's Dream is a pioneering feminist sci-fic novel authored by Rokeya S. Hossain, a woman from conservative Muslim family, who had no formal education. The story describes a fictional ladyland of the future with green urbanscapes where people travel by helicopter, use solar power and, most significantly, women are running the affairs of the state and society. This dreamland offered a totally new and different angle for women to see themselves and the world and to widen their horizon. Sultana's Dream and Rokeya have become synonymous with women's liberation in the subcontinent and beyond. Rokeya used education as a vital tool in her efforts to liberate Bengal's oppressed women. As a pioneer in Bengali Muslim education, Rekeya recognized women's inherent strength. Her ambition was that females would one day be exposed to the light of education and science to reach the positions they deserve with their talent and intelligence.
Sultana’s Dream, published in 1905, got recognition in 2024 in the UNESCO Memory of the World Asia-Pacific Register.
