Tribute to whom: Dire Straits or Jimi Hendrix? As far as I can see this is Laszlo Buring playing a song of one band in the style of another artist. That's a cover. It would be a tribute of he played the song in the style of the Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler or one of Hendrix's songs in the style of Hendrix. A tribute band is a band that plays the songs of their inspiration band as closely to the original as possible.

Usually, I don't like covers that try to make changes, to "improve" on a very good song, but... this is different. You did a an excellent, great job! It's not easy at all to replicate Jimi's style and sound (well, it's close to impossible), and it's especially challenging to create your own Hendrix-style version of a hit, that was played originally in a quite different style. You did this so well, congrats! Very enjoyable, thank you for this surprising musical gem!

@@vkl47 double hilarious, because Dylan loved it so much he started playing it in that style afterwards and kind of rebranded it as a Hendrix tribute in his live shows! That song was one of the rare examples of a dramatically different cover that still somehow manages to capture the essence of the original. Not dissing on G&R at all, and their "Knocking on Heaven's Door" was great and everything, but the haunting & eerie tone was lost in translation. Not so with Jimi's "Watchtower," still left you feeling tense and affected and slightly creeped out... just like the original.

The Sultans of the Watchtower absolutely amazing! These are two of my favorite songs, I'd say in the top 15. Jimi's version of Dylan got me actually hooked to the guitar many years ago - and, after almost 60 years it sounds so fresh. You've perfectly nailed not only the style but also the sound. Great work, keep on doing these, it brings lots of smiles.

Nice! You got some of the stylistic aspects of Jimi down (especially the groove, syncopation etc.) and, for some reason, this had a very "Stairway to Heaven" vibe for me.
