+Vlad Yurkov On July 23, 2015, the band played their comeback show at the Alternate Press Awards, which featured former lead guitarist Dave "Brownsound" Baksh, joining them on stage, 9 years after officially leaving the band. Their set also featured DMC as guest. Since the performance, rumours speculated that Dave had returned to the band rather than being just a guest. On August 14, 2015, Sum 41 announced via Alternative Press that Dave had officially returned to the band, and will appear on their upcoming album.

We left the day Brownsound left. hahah. The big thing about Sum was the combo of punk and metal riff and solo. That is the originality of Sum and makes the different from other punk band. So, when Brownsound left...we left the Sum as well. guess what, the most cheered songs on stage now is the songs from the Brownsound era...the best of solo's is from him.

Well I think Dave has an awesome unique voice which wasn't used enough in Sum 41. But if you've seen them live in concert or on videos and can hear Dave, ull see he really contributes to the vocals. Try watching Sum 41 live at Pukkelpop here on youtube.

I dont like the way Cone said that Tom from Gob does everything that Dave does, but more. Tom is awesome, but Dave brought a unique quality to the band, like andord123 said, when they play live, you can really tell the quality of Brownsound. They'll never replace him, and just like the reviews and fan's opinions of Underclass Hero have proven, Sum 41 are spiralling downwards, which is a shame considering how great their other albums (with Brownsound) were.

I enjoyed the diversity in their earlier records. Half hour of power sounded like something from an extreme sports game. All killer no filler was more skate punk. DTLI was hard punk and Chuck was like metal. It was nice.

sad, but true. we are slowly watching the fading of sum 41. when Dave was with brown brigade early on, it was a side project, he was still a member of sum 41. he left Cone now has a side project if he makes that his new band, or if Deryck starts with a side project, sum 41 is history. wake up and realize the sad truth. I hate to hear this as much as any other die hard sum fan, but I know it will happen in the near future. I'm afraid they will be releasing their last album coming up. :(

Have you listened to Tom's (new guitarist) old band, Gob? They had some pretty good songs. A lot of them sound a bit like Sum 41's first albums. Muertos Vivos on the other hand has a pretty heavy sound to it, with some sort of mix of hard rock, metal and punk. Personally, my favourite album was dtli. The songs where Stevo had vocals were good too. I think Tom and Sum 41 have just mellowed out, although their new album is supposed to be similar to their older ones, hopefully they're right.

Their music just doesn't sound the same anymore. Underclass hero was far more melodic and light than anything they've made before and SBM sounded like a Broadway show. It's combination of piano and whispering sounds like more like a goth based band.

Dave was a big loss to Sum41... without fiery riffs and solos, they look like a plain punk band... and im too disappointed 4 what happened 3 years ago..
