What I understand is, he wanted to take divorce by leaving her in India. She can stay there and contest. But she went to US, so he initiated it abroad by providing her basic facilities & followed lawyer guidance. She didn’t like it so she went back again. Ideally they should meet counselors or relatives & sort it out but that guy is avoiding it which is bad.

As she left by herself & not attending the court in spite of having basic facilities, they will give him divorce. But meanwhile she can go to high court & block it by saying she is having difficulty staying abroad as it’s her first time, etc etc. So, the guy will again initiate in India again but she already filed some cases I think dowry, etc.

She could have stayed abroad, asked him to pay for lawyers, alimony, etc etc and have got back when the process is complete. Or she can stay abroad and even contest too which may give 1-2 yrs time but can’t stop divorce if reasons are proper. Looks like she doesn’t want to stay and deal with all abroad which is fine too. That’s why high court is best help, they will cancel the guys petition when she can explain her problems abroad in dealing with cases. Next he has to initiate in India and he might get easily as they booked all cases against him and it goes for settlement, alimony & maintenance. That guy thinks he is intelligent and playing tricks with the girls & their family little education.

To conclude, the guy is behaving unprofessionally and trying ways to reduce his damage & ruin others. As it’s arranged marriage, he should sit with families when he came to visit his mother and behave properly. Or took the girls mother or his mother with his wife for 6 months or so and give time and explain. He is playing safe to get rid of them with minimal damage and the girl so far did well. He is an as****e who doesn’t have guts to sit with families. He might be worried they may put false cases & ruin his career. But if proper families come for discussion, false cases will ruin the girls life right? He should have called everyone and discussed instead of playing cheap tricks. Past is past. Now the divorce petition can be blocked & he will file again in India. She can contest and ask for interim maintenance, rights to stay with guys mother etc. I wish her good luck with case and her life

My personal advice - take it or leave it. After blocking foreign divorce petition in high court, ask them if possible to come to proper terms and settle properly. Don’t even stay with such person as he is unprofessional and irresponsible and they can danger your life any time. They may change but it will take many years and there is no guarantee he won’t do it again after kids etc
