What's interesting to see here is how in the second match as soon as Tea takes the lead Ken drops the careful, slower paced gameplay to try and regain a lead, but instead immediately begins taking percent damage cuz of that recklessness. It seems to be something most Sonic players do once they lose initiative, and to be honest I love seeing that situation where they're forced to play more honest and straightforward.

It's unfortunately the huge flaw sonic's optimal strategy has. Awful disadvantage and great advantage. I main him and try not to camp but approaching as sonic comes down to two things: 1.) Can you mix up with enough dash dancing and u-air fastfalls against shield?, 2.) Can you mix up spindash and utilize spindash with platforms well?. In both cases sonic doesn't really have anything safe on shield and spindash is easy to at least trade and worst cases beat spindash out. Doesn't help most sonics I have seen are too predictable with spindash too. Combining that leads to sonic struggling to take a stock if they didn't get the kill confirms at the right percent. Characters with disjointed or large fast hitboxes are even better at this; corrin for instance is good at dealing with sonic since they pretty much shutdown all sonic's approaches.

Sonic doesn't have very spammable neutral moves in the first place. So obviously he isn't going to rush in like people think he can. Really his Spin Dash or Spin Charge is the safest move because it moves fast, not that it doesn't have lag. The way Fox pressures is what people think Sonic should be like if he's aggressive but he just isn't, in actuality.

well, when you only practice getting damage and getting out, it’s pretty hard to make a comeback. Sonic matchup always feels like whoever has the 20% lead is gonna win the game.
