Sumbar Lake Croatia carp fishing April 2022.
This was my first visit to this amazing venue and with two weeks there I was very much looking forward to it. The journey down was an event in its self as we got near the south of Germany we encountered what can only be described as the worst driving conditions I've ever experienced, literally driving through a blizzard, but we did manage to get there safely.
This is some video and pictures from my time there, is was a little tricky to start but as the weather improved so did the fishing, and I did end up catching a few nice carp with a very special one right at the end.
Sumbar is a fantastic place to spend a couple of weeks at, the atmosphere was incredible, most nights during the hours of darkness we could hear wolves howling as they migrated north and at times seemed quite close to us, I loved it there and can't wait to return, a big thanks to all the lads on this trip for making it so special and to Dave for making it all possible.

I just done 10 days at lac de lepinet Had 22 fish up to a 50 lb mirror plus pulled in the big 160 lb sturgeon had a 55 mirror from laurousi I catch a lot of fish but never seam to get that big one

Thats some good fishing there Brian, why not try across the road on old oaks, there are 2 x 70lb fish in there now, would be a good starting place. 👍

Just any tips really and is the fishing hard going as we are going the start of may and can you use rowing boats there 👊🏻

Not sure about boats it depends on the rules for the week you're there. On exclusive weeks, they are generally allowed. I dont think the fishing is difficult, like anywhere there will be slow periods. Start of steady with your baiting if its fishing slow you'll struggle if you fill it in. Most swims have decent features in, giving you something to fish to.

How you doing I’ve managed to book old oaks for second week in jan. So wanted to ask a few things What style rig. Hook size and bait ie fake corn or Wafters etc would you advice Cheers mate Brian

Hi Brian, Basic knotless knot rigs with nylon hooklinks with size 6 hooks, 14mm boilies tipped with yellow fake corn. Depth was more important I could only get bites in 9ft on the far margin. Hope you enjoy your trip, give my regards to Mehdi.
