I love how they use lower clean vocals. Reminds me a lot of Tool and A Perfect Circle actually in that aspect. They aren't trying to force out high pitched cleans. And the rest of the song is sick too.

I bet if you said that to the band, they would show you all the hard work it is to make a song. it takes time, precision, and patience. This song isn't all that technical, but sometimes less is more.The drums are complex, the riffs are cutting edge and the vocals are tight. They are just taking flight and they have alot to learn. Just because You dont like the way it sounds, doesn't mean everyone hears it the same way as you.

One of the main things that people like is the rhythm. It's not always about how "musically intelligent" a song is. Bands like Dreamtheater, Animals as Leaders, T.R.A.M. and Periphery along with many others exist both on "musical intelligence" and rhythm. It's like saying you don't like the majority of music because it's not complicated enough. Enjoy the simple things in life, and when you want more, listen to something different.

I just saw them live with born of osiris and emmure and let me tell you, there is literally nothing generic or easy about this band. the strings are NOT put in by the producer. they have two guitarists and their lead is going hard as fuck like 80% of the time. the screamer also has the craziest range ever like its not even funny

I saw them at Mayhem the other day, fucking amazing. As far as the energy they had, easily as much as Zombie and Machine Head (who were fucking amazing, with much larger stages and crowds), and even though there were only like 100 people at City's stage, I hate to say it, but they had a more energetic performance and crowd than Mastodon. Got to talk to the bassist after for like 10min too, humble as all fuck. Can't wait for more

Of course they were more energetic than Mastodon. Those guys have to put all their energy into playing all those crazy riffs while simultaneously doing vocals... Any band with a frontman jumping around is going to have more energy than Mastodon. Not to mention the fact that the dudes in Mastodon are all almost 40... Lol. I really wish I could've gone to Mayhem to see this band and Mastodon though. It had an awesome lineup.
