Hi there! 🤗
It's been a while since my last vlog, and since summer is coming to an end in NYC, I wanted to preserve this memory by sharing it with you guys! I keep thinking how different this summer feels to last year's uncertainty... and feeling really grateful for it. Come along as I cowork with friends, get delicious korean dinner with them, and share my favorite healthy snack that honestly... tastes like dessert 🍇🍓 I love fruit. lol

kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6OphYOEo9ekfbM As a violin peg is slightly conical, the pressure applied to the pegbox walls is quite huge when you push it in. When you need to push it in with some more force to make it work, never do!! The chance is there to crack your pegbox wall. Instead, go to a luthier and make your peg fit well again. Normally the peg should stick with only a very little pressure. If not, it's likely due to a humidity change, or you probably wound your strings wrong (so they don't pull the peg inwards but outwards), or your peg soap is too soft. But never apply too much pressure inwards.

I also do film photography. But I guess the camera you consider "way too bulky" is tiny compared to the ones I use. By the way, if you use traditional black-white film, you can easily develop the film yourself. I'm sure can buy the required chemicals, plus the tiny development tank, a number of local places in NYC. All you need at your home is a room or big closet that can be completely 100% dark in order to extract the film and put it into the tank, which is made so that you can pour liquids into it and pour back out of it without letting any light in.
@SuminaStuder1
@SuminaStuder1 2 жыл бұрын
Wow, may I ask what analog cameras you shoot with? I am an amateur/beginner in this field 😃 I was thinking of learning how to develop the film myself at home but unfortunately realized how I don't have quite enough space to store more stuff - and the colors of film photos are the whole reason I do film photography tbh 😄 But thanks for bringing this up!
@eckligt
@eckligt 2 жыл бұрын
@@SuminaStuder1 Cool to see the interest! I think many of us who like film photography have gone for what we call Medium Format (or MF, codenamed 120 format), as opposed to normal 35mm film which you might consider "small format" (codenamed 135 format). Yes, there is also Large Format,which is a whole different kettle of fish. I'm also just an amateur and hobbyist, but the nice thing is that a lot of professional camera equipment from before the digital era can now be found for relatively cheap. A lot of the old stuff is "built like a tank" as the expression goes. I have a Hasselblad 500CM, which is quite common among amateur/enthusiasts. I have recently also bought a Fuji GW690, but have not started using it yet. Some other popular brands among this bigger category of cameras are Mamiya (especially RZ67) and Pentax (especially 645 and 67). Unfortunately, colour film is much more difficult to develop yourself. It can be done, hobbyists are doing it. But it's too complex for me. Another thing you could consider is to get into Polaroid and other instant cameras. The story of Polaroid is really quite incredible. The company itself tried to get out of a "failing" business something like 10 or 15 years ago, but some enthusiasts started "The Impossible Project" and bought out parts of the Polaroid factory equipment for making the custom film for the old cameras, to save it from the landfill. Then they started innovating, inventing new products in the spirit of Polaroid, and eventually bought the rights to the name Polaroid, so now you can buy new Polaroid film _and_ cameras. It's quite amazing, and the photos can be very dreamy and colourful! If you enjoy old-timey informercials, I think this one for the Polaroid SX-70, one of the most innovative cameras in the world when it came out in 1970, is a work of art in its own right: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5vEmqSVj7-Sm68 One final tip: There was a KZbin show being produced in a few seasons called "Framed Show", where some of the episodes were about some quite colourful characters exploring the world of film. I learned a lot from that (esp. the episode called "Lightwalk"), and it was fun to watch. So that is highly recommended. Here's the link to a playlist with most of the episodes: kzbin.info/aero/PLBA473CE06238FBAD

@@SuminaStuder1 While it is possible to develop color film yourself, it is very difficult. There are more steps than with B&W film, and temperature is more critical. It's really more trouble than it's worth, except for special requirements.

@michaelsommers2356 2 жыл бұрын
@@eckligt Medium format is great, but it has its drawbacks, too. The equipment is still considerably more expensive than 35 mm equipment. It is also bigger, obviously. If an AE-1 is too bulky, an MF camera is out of the question. Also, your typical consumer negative scanner does not handle 120 film.
