I like actively fishing for fluke, I'm not crazy about soaking bait. Fave tactic of mine is chucking jigs with paddletail or curlytail soft plastics. Those short fluke give you a fight on a light rod and crappie jigs

Good stuff, the fluke seem to be everywhere right now, I have been hitting shore spots from East Rock to Jones with a spinner, 1 ounce sinker, 18 inch leader to a hook with a frozen spearing or gulp, the blowfish tend to wreck my gulp where I go though, way more spearing in the package then gulp lol. I cast as far as I can and bounce it back in, can’t miss lately there are all over.. thanks for another great video.

Jerry don’t make the same mistake I did. I lost a fluke of 10 lifetimes using a light setup off the jetty. I still haven’t been able to sleep at night and it’s been 3 years. It’s the only video I’ve ever posted.

Oh yea I love this setup had it for many years. I did recently upgrade from a 300 to 410 just a higher ratio. I actually just grabbed this because i have not used it in sometime. If I go heavier I will gen go conventional all the time light i may bring this out

I do well catching fluke with a bucktail and 2/0 hook hook a foot above, but seeing you fish the Carolina rig for fluke gives me an idea. I have this ultra light rod, 5 ft, that feels like a wet noodle which makes it difficult to jig off the bottom effectively. Thinking I could use the Carolina rig on that rod and have some ultra light fluke action. If it drags, it'll still present well. Thanks for sharing, Jerry.

Oh yea great question, certainly worth a shot! somedays the sandfleas may be better then the gulp other days gulp, I would pretty much rig the same way smaller hook I would pick though or just put a bunch on the bigger hook

It’s because the nylon on my reel is rolling up like a cone and cause a lot of knobs I really like my 410 reel and I would solve this problem in order to use it as long as I can Thank Nicolas

Thanks Nicholas, the spool is actually the same a well as the line roller. I am using 10lb mono. The roller is actually a carbide guide that does no turn if too light a line it may twist. Braid is no good either, may be the issue? or line may be twisting in the water?
