A farmer gave me this tip - if you have plum tomatoes just throw them in the freezer in a bin. You can keep adding more as they ripen. Then all winter, I take them out, cut a slit on the top, run them under water and the skin just falls off. I use them all winter for sauces and chili and it makes them taste wonderful. I did not believe him when he told me this, but it does work!

Honey, you are the greatest. You are a great blessing to your husband and children. Homemakers have a full time job and then some. When you dive in (heart & soul) it’s a labor of love that is so worth it both physically and spiritually. Kudos to you!

Good morning. Yes I don't like talking about fall until the end of September. A great recipe to use up cucumber & tomatoes - chop them along with half an onion. Drizzle oil and add a pinch of salt. I think it's called Mediterranean cucumber tomato salad

Hi Lisa, thanks for the podcast. This is the first year I've managed to grow my herbs and some veggies by myself, next year I'm going to be more planned so I can get the veggies a bit earlier. Here in Belgium it's not so hot in the summer (mostly, and this year we had maybe 5 days in total that were more than 30 celsius) so no problem to use the oven. I'm grilling a lot of veggies and fish. Using local eggs as well. We eat cheese but melted cheese is usually too heavy for our stomachs. The meal plan is meat based so less for me, but I'm sure it's well planned and handy like everything you do.

Here in the UK it's still very much summer, it's raining as per and dull right now but it's still summer, I find it's mostly utubers that push on the seasons but I'm not a fan of it at all.. enjoy the season you are in and don't wish the months away. I eat a clean diet and find it a treck to get certain ingredients, coconut oil it's a nightmare at times,I've been to 3 shops today and no-one has it.

For extra tomatoes I rinse and then put into the freezer. They freeze quickly and then I can bring out a bunch at a time and cook up pots of sauce etc during the cooler weather. And I’ve been loving doing the herb salt these last few years, using up all the odds and ends of herbs from the garden since I don’t dry them. We’ve given as gifts to friends and family and everyone loves it! Love these latest blogs! Stay rested💕

Will you please give us recipes( written) Of the things you talk about? Example: The pickles, flatbread, etc! Can you also please teach us why you use Einkorn flour? The benefits. I have never heard of it before I started watching you. I love that I found your page and wish I knew of homesteading when I was young. At 60 I am learning so much from you about scratch cooking. Although I thought I knew more than I did. Can you also list the meat resources?
@Simplefarmhouselife3 жыл бұрын
all my recipes can be found on my blog - farmhouseonboone.com einkorn flour is an ancient grain. that means that its been significantly less processed + its easier for your body to digest. as far as meat resources, we get our chicken from fed from the farm

Yes, cast iron pizza! We usually do a base of mayo, then chicken and mozzarella cheese. We add spices like parsley, oregano, basil and garlic powder. Mmmm!

Great podcast Lisa! Do you think you could do a few episodes on bringing up babies/tips for new moms/sharing your experience as a seasoned mom? I know you have covered topics such as cloth diapering co sleeping and baby foods...but I would love to hear more about your approach to raising a baby from 0 to say 3 years old? You are so very inspiring and I am trying to learn as much as I can before getting pregnant. Both my mum and mother in law have passed away so I cant rely on them for advice or guidance. Thank you for all the great content Lisa🙏

I have a large family as well and Aldi is our go to. Do you not have a Costco close by? I save so much just shopping exclusively at Aldi and Costco. I’ve never looked into Thrive Market but I will definitely compare some prices. Thanks!

I’d love to find a Canadian that does what you do! I’d love to be able to access Aldi and Thrive Market. Who knows... if Canada keeps leaning more and more toward communism, we may end up moving south.
