I used sun-in in the 80s, as a teen. Made my hair crispy and orange. It was what everyone did. The other option was vodka and lemon juice. That was harder for me to get hold of.😂🍸🍋. Sunscreen was Hawaiian Tropic spf 2 oil, or baby oil and iodine. I’m shocked I don’t look like an old leather glove by now. I reformed my ways in the 90s. Sunscreen every day.

The Bumble and Bumble invisible oil products are excellent. My hair is curly, thick, and frizzy at times and that B&B line has helped with manageability a ton. Glad it has the UV protectant too! I don't love the fragrance in the line but it's not overpowering.

Also a thing to keep in mind is to not keep your hair wet for too long like with a hair mask because that hygral fatigue which causes future breakage and can ruin your natural wave pattern

Warning Do NOT Use Sun In!! I used it 30 yrs ago. It triggered scalp psoriasis. To this day I still am dealing w scalp psoriasis in back at nape of neck. Intermittent but it ALWAYS comes back.

Have you tried happy cappy shampoo? I never had psoriasis but I had eczema on my scalp and it got rid of it for good, so maybe that can help.

@@pineapple365 Have not tried happy Cappy but will give it a try for sure! Have used RX strength Duvonex (Vit A derivative) & a topical Steroid. Both are alcohol based so stings, like on an open wound! Also tried Coal Tar shampoo which helps but it's a known carcinogen. Thanks for the tip, appreciate it!

Wow! Everything old IS new again!!!! Cannot believe Sun In has made a comeback. What's next? Baby oil and iodine??? I have just purchased swim caps ahead of Independence Day cookout at her new house and new pool. Wore them in the 70's when I was a child at the local pool. (When Mama made me) otherwise I stayed in the pool so much, it turned my mouse brown hair almost blonde, and so dry and damaged I had to keep it in a boy cut. I also thought of something else. Wearing spray spf on the hairline, for those who don't wear hats. Sunbum makes a good one.💜

Wow, I didn't realize Sun In was still on the market! I used it in the late 90s as a teen and it turned my brown hair neon orange. My mom had to go buy blonde hair dye to try to fix it and at least not orange. It was a nightmare for a very self conscious teenage girl.
@luckyDancer1005 ай бұрын
Yup just saw it yesterday in Target! Couldn’t believe it.

Like others in the comments, Sun In ruined my long, very dark brown hair and turned it a hideous orange. Not to mention the damage it did. Obviously, with my hair color, I should have never used it but I was a teen and didn't know any better. I ended up having to cut off a lot of the length. I'm surprised there's still a market for it. Thanks for the hair tips, Dr Dray! They are always appreciated. Happy Friday!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a fantastic weekend! 💞

I used sun in last summer and my hair was fine. I take care of my hair really well (I’ve been growing my hair out since 2017, now at classic length). However, I do know how damaging it is so I’ve stopped. But it was fun to have that “sun-kissed” lightening for at least one summer 🥲

This is very helpful, as is everyone of your videos. Really appreciate you taking the time to inform and educate us. Could you please us me know how to get rid of frizz in humid weather? I battle with it a lot, even though I have healthy albeit color-treated hair. Thanks again very much.

Hairstylist for 34 years: Put an anti-frizz spray or cream ( I like cream as my hair is very long & very curly) Put it on after washing your hair, air-dry, preferably. Their are also anti-frizz oils/ conditioners that you can put on your hair after styling.; for best results put it on your hands and apply.

Do you have any care tips for gray hair
@db-gb5xi5 ай бұрын
Most derm channels seem to focus on premature gray or addressing rumours about gray hair reversal. Most gray hair care comes from hair stylists or folks who themselves have gray hair. MUA Nikol Johnson has videos. Jonathan Van Ness has one. MUA/hair stylist Glam Girl Gabi has one. There's also MrKongsMom and others.

With very thick curly hair, I use a hair mask thinly and just leave it in - my hair is much softer, with no frizz. You just have to figure out how much to apply

Speaking of brushing your hair. Do you recommend brushing your hair when it’s wet with a wide tooth comb or a wet brush?
@ada58515 ай бұрын
Doesn't really matter but a tip (especially for curly girls) - brush your hair wet *with conditioner*. So condition your hair and brush it before rinsing out the conditioner. It does magic for detangling and really helps to prevent breakage.
