Im about to transfer to an animation school and I want to say: Wow! I just discovered a treasure channel! Love your content! It’s so soothing to watch you paint, the patience in the way you created that whole shadow layers using only multiply mode???!! This shows me a new approach for background painting and values! I used to dislike perspective and background because I was really struggling with it, but after seeing your process, I want to sit down and relearn perspective and background painting again! Thank you for making this video! you’re an inspiration!

I love that you explicitly said, the final result is the only thing important... For some people if it's not hard, is cheating, is so silly. When people watch your work, they don't know if you expend five minutes ior 50 hours in the shot... They care of the result.

this is an interesting concept especially on painting method, I usually just brute forcing the colors by painting them manually on each respective layer (FG, MG, or BG). I'm going to try this method next time for my personal project.

I was scared to use black as my shadow layer because often times my painting will look muddy

Sure, tell me how it went when you tried this technique. :)

If you observe Ghibli paintings, you'll notice they often use deep black in the shadows.

I was surprised to see that you painted the local colours all on the same layer. I imagine that if this was a background you planned to use for animation you would put various objects on separate layers. But this approach was very enjoyable to watch! Love your work by the way, huge fan.

Thank you so much ! I work differently when its for studios and needs a lot of changes. But when I work for myself, I enjoy the 1 layer technique :)

Hi! Why dont you use the fill tool when it comes to the local colors?
@AlexandreBlainAnimation
@AlexandreBlainAnimation 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastian ! I prefer to use my brushes, because they have some color variations in it ! The fill too would only fill with 1 color :) but of course you can do both, it's just a question of preferences!

hi! i wanted to ask you a dumb question which you probably already explained in the video but i must have missed that part; after creating the multiply layer you start using like a grayscale (i don't really know if it's a grayscale but i see you're using black, white and shades in between) to create shadows and lights, my question is how do you pick them so quickly? i know the video is sped up but still do you always pick them from the color scheme in the up corner or do you use hotkeys? thanks for your time and very helpful video!
