--- Kana’s website new link: www.kanaurbanowicz.com/ ---
A small (or maybe not so small as it took probably 20h to complete) experiment in painting using iPad Pro and the Procreate app. I tried to paint an anime-like background inspired by the “Ponyo” hand-painted poster colors style.
This picture is based on some photos we took with Kana during our trip to Kanazawa. I really liked the long stairs and the empty beer bottle crates in the foreground and wanted to paint it someday.
You can see how this picture was made on two KZbin live streams:
• LIVE Painting - in Pro...
• LIVE painting in Procr...
Also, the Procreate brushes I used to create this picture are available on my Gumroad account here:
gumroad.com/l/ewGt
Technical details:
iPad Pro 12.9 inch 512GB model
Apple Pencil
Procreate
File size 3898 x 2728px

@Alcatraz TM americans don't even make traditional animation anymore, it's either puppets or 3D. the state of their cartoons is horrible

And most of the animators are underpaid. Imagine that

Péter Baktay 3d animation is very hard to make as well. Everything is sketched on paper or in CG programs before 3d artists can start working on 3D picture. They even make additional softwares in order to be able to model certain special effects. Animation nowadays have got plenty of different styles and none of them must be underestimated.
@goji253
@goji253 3 жыл бұрын
@@sunnymay3963 Keep in mind however that in 3d animation and 2d animation, the difficult parts are completely different. With 3d it is the modelling and coding of simulations. Once you have the model and animations, you can make use of them again and again and again to your heart's content. Movement is, at least compared to 2d animation, much less of a hassle. And while they spend weeks creating detailed backgrounds, they don't have to paint them for each individual frame. For example, a sequel to a 3d movie can reuse all the character models or Disney and Pixar can re-use the fur or water simulation code they used for Zootopia and Moana. In short, in 3d animation, the prep work is the hard part while in 2d animation the movement and lighting (which is relatively easy in 3d) is more difficult. They are 2 completely different forms of animation in the end. 3d art is more common practice these days though because... as stated... once you have the necessary assets you can progress a lot faster and cheaper. And the more 3d animations a company makes the more assets they have over time. This doesn't mean I respect 3d animators less than 2d, but I just wanted to point out that, at a certain point, the animation staff for 3d movies DOES have it a lot easier.

I can’t purchase anything or support you on patreon yet, but I’m absolutely going to when I’m able! Thank you so much for being an inspiration to many of us artists!
