Quality control on the AZ lines has been terrible in my experience. Premium and prestige. On the other hand, I had shell pink HSS pro-mod, that was one of the top 5 best playing guitars I ever owned. Didn't need any additional fretwork to have the neck flat with less than 1mm action and full playability. That's pretty incredible. The AZ neck profile, body contours, and hardware feel much nicer than the Charvel IMO though. Stainless frets are only as great as their dressing and if you have a light touch, nickel silver frets can go many years without needing a level/recrown

@@GuitarsAndSynths I own quite a few guitars, and while the majority are either US or Japan made, I have a few made in Mexico (Fender T-Bucket acoustic, Charvel DK24, EVH Striped Series... all from the Fender family obviously). I definitely agree that the Mexican ones get an unfair bad rap. The ones I own play well, and are pretty solid. I think some people are just stuck in the past, and haven't gotten past the old perceptions (which were valid at one time). Coming from someone who has an ibanez AZ prestige, I can’t wait for these to ship. I pre ordered the sun burst one already. We all agree the sun burst one is a rip-off of the Ibanez az sunburst but so what? This guitar is half the price of the Ibanez prestige. You get the same aesthetic and a bargain for all the other modern features. This guitar not having SS frets is not a deal breaker for me. Don’t get me wrong I love SS frets. I have them on all my current guitars as well as obviously on my prestige AZ. They feel better to play on while doing bends and all but this guitar now has that sick sunburst finish that is only on a $2000 ibanez prestige (at least similar looking guitar) but you don’t have to spend $2000+ to get this finish with similar appointment (aside from SS frets and PUs) ya you’re not getting a bone nut and titanium saddles but tusq and steel saddles is still pretty damn good for this price point. The competing guitars for these are the Ibanez az premiums and those MII guitars are chaotic on their QC. I went thru two premiums with shitty ass fretwork. I was so upset with the quality I ended up going prestige. I had the shell pink and primer grey charvels and they felt and played amazing. Although having SS frets on these charvels would have made them perfect and market dominating, QC might have been an issue with the fret work since it requires more work to file down SS. Not saying MIM QC is perfect but it’s better than MII in terms of comparing AZ to the dk pro 24 2pt at least in my experience. I’d rather take the nickel frets, save some money, have at least decent fretwork that will make the guitar playable, then maybe refret the guitar to SS in the future with a good luthier. At the end of the day, with charvel not only pushing out better finishes but also new configurations with the pickups and the tonal switch, they’re competing drastically with Ibanez and their dnya mix system switch. Their finishes are IMO better than the AZ premiums and with the nickel frets, the fretbwork is way better than the Az premiums with the stainless steel.

Actually, within 1 or 2 years max i can legit destroy nickel frets, so yeah. Not even mentionning the fact i have to level them every 2 months. SS should now be the standard for guitars that are 800-1000$+, and nickel reserved for cheap guitars. It's 2019, we have excellent tools so cmon, the wire is'nt expensive, and done right it takes juste a little more time to do the fretwork than with nickel. It's a truely amazing guitar tho, even with paying a luthier for a SS refret (300$ cost) it's 100% worth the money specwise for that price. But they could, at least on some models, do SS frets and i'd only cost about 100-150$ added max. They don't even realise how many of these they would sale if they had SS frets. Because of that many people are going with Ibanez AZ wich to me is much less enjoyable and versatile.

That’s not going to stay there for more than 5 minutes and with the tusq nut you shouldn’t need it anyway. What is with the description of the pickups? That’s a full shred, that’s all you need to say. I am sure it is a fine guitar, but nothing about it is very unique. I guess if you make another model out of the same materials as the last model, you need to put together a long description of the appearance of the pickups to make it seem innovative. You don’t need to go through the pup positions at a namm show, because we can’t hear it over the noise anyway. Now.
