Summer's Over! (episode 14)

After a busy summer, the dogs and I are wrapping things up. This video is a quick look back at events that will turn into longer videos later, like the puppies getting hooked up for the first time, or fishing on the Yukon River for dog salmon. It's good to be back!

I love how as soon as you set up the camera to start talking one of the dogs just jumps up and ruins it. 😂 And yikes with the snow, that’s all I get where I live when it’s winter

Hey what do you do to get your dogs to listen outside? Mines never listened once he’s outside but he is a perfect dog inside.

While I do not consider myself an excellent dog trainer, I do okay! A lot of the early dog training starts in the pen. I'll train just before they get fed, so they are the most food oriented. As they get better, they get more freedom. And when they go for longer walks, they get the electronic dog collars that remind them that they are not out of my reach! Even with all this, though, if they get a whiff of a nearby moose, they're gone. Hopefully, you don't have that problem! I think the trick is to expose the dog to the unfamiliar situation slowly, in stages, trying to not push past what the dog is ready for. Like the great George Attla said, "There are no bad dogs, just bad training." (or something like that) I bet there are great KZbin videos that would help you with this.
