Judy Garland has been hailed as the most talented woman to ever set foot in a Hollywood Studio. So multi-talented. She sang with power, tenderness, and passion. Now for her acting prowess. Comedy, Drama, musicals you name it, Judy Garland had the ability to do it all. A great dancer on both the Big Screen, and on the Broadway stage, she simply stands alone. She had a tough life, and allowed pills and alcohol to slowly take over her life. She was trying to escape the pressures upon her from former Husbands, and the Hollywood Bosses that demanded more and more from her, until it almost caused a nervous Breakdown. A very generous, and Humble woman who thought more about others, than about herself. We miss you Dear Judy. You are a true Hollywood Legend

This woman was already a pro as a child, and had a huge voice. She is the mother of Liza Minnelli and Lorna Luft (both singers), with Liza rivaling her mother in volume and energy. Please react to Liza Minnelli's Mein Herr from the musical Cabaret. Lots of sleazy pre-World War II, German showgirls in a number with chairs. Choreographed by the great Bob Fosse! You can see how the apple didn't fall far from the tree!!! Happy Listening!

Oh India welcome to the Judy Garland fan club.Judy was a child star ( she is Dorothy in th Wizard of Oz and sings Somewhere over the Rainbow) She is also the mother of Liza.Minelli.Last year the Movie. A Star is Born with Lady Gaga was a huge hit but that was the fourth version of the story. Judy Garland did the second version ( and I think the best) in it she sings "The Man that Got Away" talk about a torch song. She also had her own television variety show and Barbra Streisand performs and Judy sing a mash.up of Get Happy and Happy Days.are here again that la simply sublime.Just beautiful.

One of Judy's iconic images and performances! The movie of Sumer Stock had finished filming, and Judy went to a spa to lose some weight and recuperate. About a month later the producers called and said they needed a better ending to the movie, so Judy went back to the studio having lost 20 or so pounds, and filmed this number for the movie finale in, like a day. So if you watch the movie, that's why she looks heavier for most of it, and then looks amazing for this song.

@JulioLeonFandinho5 жыл бұрын
@@popland1977 Mariah a fantastic songwriter? I have another idea about what a fantastic songwriter is... anyway, my point is that Judy Garland was more versatile, just because back then actors were supposed to act, sing and dance. They were multifaceted proffessionals and at some point Judy Garland was the most proficient of them all, she was so good that could compete with the best singers at just singing, the best actors at just acting, being dancing her weaker skill

Words cannot explain how MONUMENTALLY TALENTED this woman was. Yes, her voice is legendary and there are many vocalists we can say that about, but she was one of the ORIGINAL TRIPLE THREATS, singer/dancer/actor! Above all, she was the ultimate entertainer, no one gave a better live performance or concert. She made dozens of movies, sang hundreds of songs, and had a great sense of humor. Yes, there are other iconic singers, but this woman was a once-in-a-century talent!

Judy Garland became famous as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. As she grew up the movie studio she worked for thought she had a phenomenal voice , but needed to lose weight to become the kind of thin, sexy star people want to see. The studio put her on a strict diet and sent her to a doctor who prescribed "diet pills" for her that were actually very addictive "speed", but people just didn't understand addiction in the 30s and 40s. She struggled with addiction to prescription pills her whole life as a result, eventually overdosing in her 40s and dying. Her adult roles have her dressed in sexy and glamorous dresses, but she paid a real price for it. She is one of the most talented all around performers and singers of the 20th century. Thanks for sharing:)

I love Judy. As a child, I was enthralled by her Wizard of Oz performance. She had amazing talent. In this song which I've seen many times, she uplifts the viewer and captivates them. I have always been a little confused as to some of the actions the male dancers/actors do. But she clearly sparkles like a diamond and gives a vibrant performance. Summer Stock was plays or musical comedies generally done during the summertime when it was the "off-season" for theater. So yes it is a "play" or musical she is in (inside a movie). I love your facial expressions! Judy aka Frances Gumm was left-handed which I think is pretty cool.

One of my favorites of her movies around the Christmas holiday is Meet Me In St. Louis (1944). She filmed it after giving birth to her daughter Liza Minnelli. The film was directed by her then husband Vincent Minnelli. One of the best Christmas songs ever came from this movie sung by Judy, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.
@garlandgirl10 Жыл бұрын
April Davis-Washington, you are partly right and partly wrong on this (please don't take this the wrong way). Judy and Vincent 1st worked together on MMISL which was in 1944, and they started dating during it. By the end of the film, they decided that they wanted to get married and were wed in June of 1945. Liza was then born in March of 1946. For the song, it is one of the best Christmas songs on the 20th Century and Judy had a huge part in creating it the way we know today because the composer wanted it to be totally different but Judy refused to sing his version to Margaret O' Brien.

@@HorrorGenreLady I saw a clip for the first time in the holiday movie Family Stone with Diane Keaton. If you are in the US I think most states have a state library website. Mine is Mel.org because I'm in Michigan. I would recommend looking into this to rent the movie because it is so old. Unless of course it's available to rent on KZbin. If your library has this option it will let you request the movie from another library in your state. Just log in with your library user ID and password. I've been able to do this with a lot of movies from the 30s and 40s plus new-ish tv shows. As long as they are not too new then you might be able to find it. There's also an international option....I can't remember what it's called...its been so long since I've used it. But I hope that helps.
