Summer Striper Fishing on Lake Murray | Columbia, South Carolina

I hope you all like this change of pace where I took my wife, Kristie, out for a Striper fishing trip on Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina where we fished with a local guide and used live bait to introduce Kristie to Striper fishing since most of the fish had moved super deep during the summer months due to higher water temps and oxygen levels. Went striper fishing last year on Murray. The guide used a walking stick as his thumper. And it worked. You could watch the graph. He'd start tapping it on the floor, and the fish would show up under the boat. Absolutel blast

I caught about 20 on day 1 of the kbf event on murray. Great day besides not finding any largies lol. Fishing an event on Monticello later this month. Just moved to south carolina. Should be a blast.

That's awesome, I'm fixing to move to the Oconee County area which has Keowee, Jocassee, and Hartwell.... and just a simple question, wouldn't it be better to use some sort of under water speaker..? that knocking would drive me insane... hahaha....

Nice, I live in Columbia, SC and Murray is my home lake. Largemouth fishing use to be really good until all the blue back herring introduced by the striper fisherman took over. Now the largemouth bass are nomadic and extremely difficult to catch unless you find the bait. Glad you guys had a nice experience. Which guide service did you use, what was included and what was the cost? Thanks.

Striper fisherman didn’t hurt the largemouth bass fishing on Murray. DNR’s biologist screwed up a lot of fishing on Murray when they decided to kill the aquatic grass. The aquatic grass was a place where the Frye could hide from larger predator fish and grow. They were more worried about revenue from ski boats and jet skis.

I have three boys and I’m trying to learn how to fish bc I want to take them. Thank you for your videos! The boys are 3.7&9 if you have any tips on where to go with littles and what shops can help me set up some beginners! (All of us are beginners 😅). I just think it’s important for the boys to have these experiences. Watching all the videos and doing my research though! Thanks so much!

Went fishing on Lake Murray and the guide use a aluminum baseball bat as his thumper. It worked very well.
